[sims] Inform Head of Subject about SIMS Behaviour incidents in their subject classes?

In SIMS, it's trivial to notify HOY, Form Tutor and SLT (named individual option) about behaviour incidents. If, however, the Head of Maths would like to keep an eye on things happening in Maths lessons, there doesn't seem to be an easy way to script/report on this such that the HOD doesn't have to go poking around to find the info.

 

How do you automatically (without a human have to faff about) report behaviour incidents to heads of faculty / dept in SIMS?

If you're okay with it being a daily summary report, you could design reports and then schedule them to be sent to HoDs. If you need to do this for multiple departments then it will be a faff to set up but after that will be fine.

I've done something for 'achievement' house points - I run a number of reports using commandlinereporter on a schedule. These are imported into a MySQL database which runs a number of queries using php on a schedule which compares HPs with the previous days. If a students hits a hundredth house point total then it e-mails the head of house and tutor of this achievement. This also allows me to show students individual housepoint total on their individual home page portal. I just finalised the code last term that also notifies them on their homepage of an upcoming detention. We're finally moving over to putting detentions within SIMS this academic year!

 

I'm about to re-work the code to do the same with behaviour points; in this case every tenth behaviour incident gets the attention of the tutor via an e-mail.

i would agree with JDSA, schedule reports to run weekly - you could then add a "prompt at run time filter" to the excel document, so that users is prompted for their particular "subject" (based on either the activity or subject that was logged when the incident was logged)

I have found scehduled problematic....you have to schedukle a report to an individual...you cannot schedule a report to mutiple people at the same time. Why not get key staff to drop the report into favourites within the report structure...then they can access the report from their favourites tile on the homepage.

Sorry, I posted and ran. I think I'm going to end up going down the scheduled reports route. I need to check that it's flexible enough to say look at the timetable and properly identify a Maths lesson (for example) as a Maths lesson.

 

And yes, every HOD, every subject.

Jackfrost13 is correct. It is somewhat annoying, especially when there are multiple reports. Which is why i try and make the reports as future proof as possible, to prevent me having to re-schedule them all periodically.
