Thanks for the suggestion but copying it to be local didn't help. -
[sims] Urgent Capita SIMS Data Issue - Issued by childrens services

Trying to run the DBDiagnose tool but I'm getting an "Illegal characters in path" error, any ideas? Using the V4 sql file, checked the server names etc are correct... -
[sims] Removal of Pupil Nationality, Country of Birth and Proficiency in English
jdsa replied to smarties11's topic in MIS Systems
@GrahamB Interesting question, I'd wondered this as well. Referring to the ICO again, you can apparently push back on a request for erasure if it is "excessive", either requesting a "reasonable fee" to do the erasure or just outright refusing it. But, of course, what on Earth does "excessive" mean? -

https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/guide-to-the-general-data-protection-regulation-gdpr/principles/storage-limitation/ "You must not keep personal data for longer than you need it." I would argue that the legal basis to retain the data has also been removed, unless you are using this information for a separate reason and have justified it within your privacy notice/consent forms/etc (e.g. in the overseas school visa example, I suppose). -
Routines > Student > Bulk Update > Group Type: Year Group; Group: All; Data Item: Parental Consent > Search > Print It comes out as a CSV file.

If you go into Searchable Pupil Data, add in your Y8 UPNs the KS2 scaled scores will be in the download files. If you're looking at the KS2 csv, they're about halfway along. Same for Y7.

Just in case you didn't know, the formula's really simple in Excel: just use =PROPER(). If it's a report that's going to be run a lot, you could write a Macro to be included in the Report Template, but it's a bit of a faff.

The recordings are usually available after a few days here.

[sims] Individual reports - change "Result" to "Result Description"
jdsa replied to ICTLady's topic in MIS Systems
Old thread, but does anyone know if this can be done? I've tried to Find & Replace 'Result' into 'ResultDesc' and have looked at the 'full' code (as per this thread) to see if there's anything else that distinguishes the two fields, but I'm stumped. -
Sort of... If you go to Tools > InTouch > Message Type Defaults Setup then click Search you can set up auto-forwarding for specific message types. We have it set up so that General Message replies get sent to our school admin email, and Attendance replies get sent to our Attendance Officer's school email.
-
Tools > Setups > Emergency Alert is where I can select which staff receive emails/texts. But we have InTouch, so if matt40k is right, you might not have this option.
-
There have historically been intermittent issues with various email providers. Are the email addresses from the same provider, do other emails to the same provider get through?
-
Just checking this is the process you're following: Add a column for Data Entry using formula, select Result Set, choose Aspect and then the Nested If-Then-Else. So for us, we have an Aspect for score, and then from that we have another Aspect with a formula that says, for example, if the score is above 110 then enter "GDS" and colour Green. This should produce a permanent colour and text.
-
Absolutely you can, it works how you're describing it. Put the aspect that contains the Nested If Then Else formula in your Individual Report, make sure 'Print Report with Colour' is ticked, and the colour will come through.
-
Is this distinction used anywhere that isn't SIMS (e.g. I'm sure the School Census doesn't distinguish between N or Null)? Just wondering how important it is to sort this out on our database.
-
What's the issue with giving a status of N and backdating to their school start date? That would remove any incorrect statuses right?
-
How are your Result Sets set up? Where we need to do this, I would just choose the Aspect that I want and, in your example, the Result Set would be 'Year 7 Summer Term' as we have a separate Result Set for every year group and every term.

[sims] Inform Head of Subject about SIMS Behaviour incidents in their subject classes?
jdsa replied to pete's topic in MIS Systems
If you're okay with it being a daily summary report, you could design reports and then schedule them to be sent to HoDs. If you need to do this for multiple departments then it will be a faff to set up but after that will be fine. -
For a short-term bodge I would add blank lines onto the end of the report template, experimenting until I could be sure that all reports would print two pages with none spilling onto three. (@CAM is probably right long-term, but of course your hands might be tied or not have enough time.)
-
I'm assuming you're talking about SIMS... This problem should not occur at all, when you select 'Print' it sends each pupil's report as an individual file to your printer. I've actually just spent the day working with double-sided printing Individual Reports of differing page lengths, and have not come across this issue.

Lesson Monitor has a function called 'Deal With Unexplained Absences'. You click on that, select the group you want (whole school, year, etc) and the date range, and it will flag up all N marks entered (either for Sessions or Sessions And Lessons). You can then directly overwrite the N marks with the correct mark once known. It's nice and quick.
-
Is 'Recorded By' not what you're looking for? It's in the Behaviour subgroup of fields.
-
Phil, for all-through schools I assume we're going to wait until the Secondary is released as well before it's rolled out to us?

[sims] Report on House Points by academic year or term
jdsa replied to DHarpers's topic in MIS Systems
Create a new Student report, add in the fields you need (name, House, etc) but not points yet. Scroll down to the bottom of the fields list and add in 'Achievements' (it needs to be the one with the little blue icon), then click on the little red book icon on the right of the screen, and this lets you set filters. Select 'New', 'Date' and then whatever you need. Now add in 'Points' from the 'Achievements' sub-list. When you run the report you'll need to calculate the totals via SUMIF or Pivot Table etc, but remember that SIMS has a habit of turning numbers into text (you can tell by the little green triangle in corner of the cell), so you might need to change them back into a number format before this will work.- 1 reply

What's the deployment going to be like for all-through schools?
