synaesthesia Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Well, so far so good with Mosyle. As the only accounts being used are the ones generated and owned by the School, with details already available to the public (obviously) I see no real issue with DP. 1
atcoates Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 We use Meraki on all our devices and works really well. 1
synaesthesia Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Had to move away from Meraki; no longer free, and now over 100 devices. Silly expensive to buy too. It's safe to say that when speccing any large iPad deployments, a paid for MDM solution must be part of the spec. 1
tmoon-mint Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Another +1 for Mosyle Manager. Setup several schools on it recently and no issues whatsoever. All with device assignment setup for apps too. Free version is very limited but does what most primaries need it to. Premium is very reasonably priced too. 1
Jose Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 we use mosyle here we dont have a school apple id, so we have one id that we use to deploy all our apps with the problem we have is that if installing apps to large amounts of ipads, we keep getting asked to enter the apple id password, is there a way round this, we are in Thailand so we are not allowed a school id

tmoon-mint Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 Not aware of any limit on how many devices you can have per Apple ID. Without access to the Volume Purchase Program its going to be a bit annoying. You could try going to Settings > iTunes & AppStore > Password Settings and making sure that require password for free downloads is turned off. Not sure that will work but give it a try.

Bev Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 (edited) Just started looking at Mosyle and it looks very promising so far. Not sure if device assignment through VPP is a premium feature. I haven't found where to do it yet, hopefully it isn't because that would be annoying having to go back to Apple IDs again No, it's free. I use Mosyle and find it very good. We purchase apps using VPP and push them out with Mosyle. iPads don't have any Apple IDs on them at all. Edited January 11, 2018 by Bev

Thanks yes I worked out how to device assign apps (The great big button staring me in the face that says use device assignment was a pretty big clue lol)
StevieM Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 Anyone know what the support is like for the free version of Mosyle? We've just got 50 iPads and a Mac Mini to manage them with, but I haven't got a clue about it all. I'm starting a 2-week trial with Impero EdLink this afternoon, and I've been told that they will hold my hand through the deployment process. I don't know how much it will cost once the trial is over, but I certainly need to make sure I have access to LOTS of help in the future.
EliteCommander Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 I wish I'd found this thread earlier, however after multiple recommendations we are using Lightspeed MDM. I expected to be able to lock down the iPads since we were having a lot of problems with students deleting Apps. We have 40 iPads for general use, they are not tied to any individuals, I have set up groups for them and set the associated policies to disallow removal of apps, however, not only can the apps be deleted but the MDM itself can be quite easily removed. Am I making a basic error ? Everyone who recommended Lightspeed told me it was very intuitive, but I'm not finding it that way. Any Lightspeed users on here able to help please ?

This is nothing to do with the MDM solution, you need to be enrolled in DEP to stop end users deleting the MDM profile and supervise the iPads upon activation. https://www.apple.com/education/docs/DEP_Guide.pdf 1

Thanks for your help and the useful link.
Bev Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Are your iPads Supervised. A lot of restrictions only work on supervised iPads. They shouldn't be able to remove Apps if you have that restriction in place. if you look on the iPad in settings,m profiles, then look at the lightspeed profile and you can see which restrictions are in place. installing / removing apps not allowed are both options. 1
eraser Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Lightspeed - currently using with a number of primaries. Not the cheapest option even with the discount for a 3-year subscription, but simple to implement and maintain.
