ATF File query

Hi

 

Does anyone know if the ATF file for import new Year for secondary should include the following fields Nationality and Country of Birth or could someone check to see if theirs does as think this info is required in Census in October. If this isn't or is the case could anyone point me towards where this is explained if that makes sense.

if you look at the specification (or more easily the example files for the 2017 series 13 ATFs) on the www.gov.uk website you'll find both [TABLE=width: 39]

On a related note, what software do LA's use to produce these ATFs? (ours lost the ability some years back )

There is an Admissions Module in Capita's One Suite (their LA offering, previously known as EMS). I believe that produces ATF files.

Using SAM more digging around with this and back and forth between LEA for some reason Nationality isn't on the ATF at all but LEA SIM's Team have queried this with SAM as they came back with some info about not a business requirement although the schools need this. Country of Birth is on for us but all NYO and apparently SAM are saying this is because Primaries don't collect this but we are checking this. We have this information on our Data collection forms so will be ok for Census but just strange the ATF's didn't when this information is becoming more of a requirement.

I'm pretty sure that the DfE backed away from making this mandatory.

Cheers Phil this is sort of the information I am getting with the caveat that DFE are going to push this more so we are recording this just in case as when this is needed for census if required.

I suspect that they won't push this one as it got politically very hot - the suggestion was that the data would be shared with the Home Office at which point the whole thing became optional.

After it came out that they already HAD shared some of this information with the home office!!

Also - might be worth making sure you are on the summer release before importing CTF's (I know you mentioned the ATF) - but the release notes state (albeit under the AMPARK section):

 

"The Country of Birth tag is now imported correctly in a pre-admission group CTF

(via Routines | Data In | CTF | Import CTF)."
