Chroma Key/Green Screen software?

Any recommendations for software that can do chroma key/green screen?

 

Is it necessary to spend a fortune?

Lightworks might be overkill, but should do the trick. Pretty sure that most "free but pro-level" stuff will do the trick: Blender, Shotcut etc.

We used WeVideo, which worked well with green-screen. It's probably worth adding that most of the work in setting up a good green-screen scene seems to be in the lighting of the green (or other colour) background and the subject. If you have a budget to spend on some equipment / software you might want to buy a dedicated stand / backdrop kit (various available on eBay around £100) and a maybe couple of lights.

 

Background removal is something that Lightfield cameras are very good at, although I'm not really sure if there's anything available at the moment that's really suitable for classroom use.

It's getting on a bit now (and has been discontinued), but Serif MoviePlus X6 still works quite well and lets you do some Chroma Key work. No idea how good/bad it does it compared to things like Premier Pro though, but it is cheaper!

Open Broadcast Software is free and can record with a green screen in mind using layering etc.

Camtasia is a good one with a good educational price that can edit a video which has a green screen layer in it as well.
