FN-GM Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 I am after one of these, does anyone have one please? It hucks onto the motherboard I cannot find one like this Thanks
tech_guy Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 I'll have a look in my box of bits tomorrow for you.
john Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 This - http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.asp?product_id=13777&category_id=100&manufacturer_id=0&tid=cskit or this http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.asp?product_id=20926&category_id=100&manufacturer_id=0&tid=zm-nb32k would probably also do the job if the bits box doesn't come up trumps.
FN-GM Posted March 13, 2008 Author Posted March 13, 2008 They won't attach, they don't have the hooks like the current one.
john Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 You take the hooks out of the board and then the pegs push through the holes left by the hooks.
FN-GM Posted March 13, 2008 Author Posted March 13, 2008 There are no holes like, that the hooks are literally attached to the motherboard. If you take them out you will break part of the board. Thanks anyway

contink Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 You might want to try a Zalman passive north bridge cooler or something similar... They have a heat activated glue that can do the job of attaching and you get to avoid the whole noise issue as well although you do need to be careful of add-on card clearance. Oops... that must have been an earlier model I was thinking of.. http://www.zalman.co.kr/ENG/product/CategorySecond_Pic.asp .. seems they don't do the thermal glue anymore but something along these lines may be useful regardless..
FN-GM Posted March 14, 2008 Author Posted March 14, 2008 Dam i thought i had the perfect solution then
contink Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Well you still might... http://www.maplin.co.uk/searchtemplate.asp?criteria=THERMAL%20ADHESIVE http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en-gbp/products/heatsinkacc/as-silver-adhesive
contink Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 ... with this little all in one being of the type I was describing before: http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en-gbp/products/northbridgecooling/coolink-mb-silencer
browolf Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 i think thats a northbridge fan. u may be able to use one of these http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_2841.html post a pic of the mobo where the fan fits.
contink Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 I'm a dope... I didn't notice the hooks... Ok... final option: http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en-gbp/products/northbridgecooling/za-twin-towers That unit is mighty tall but it includes the adaptors to handle the hook fittings.
FN-GM Posted March 16, 2008 Author Posted March 16, 2008 Well you still might... http://www.maplin.co.uk/searchtemplate.asp?criteria=THERMAL%20ADHESIVE http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en-gbp/products/heatsinkacc/as-silver-adhesive Right this and a standard fan will do then Cheers
