Laptop Keys

Hello,

 

I work within a school in brighton where the kids here like to remove the laptop keys, unfortunatly i cannot find anywhere that will sell keys for a reasonable price.

Does anyone on here have any ideas where to purchase keys that dont cost a ridiculous amount.

 

The laptops i have are lenovo thinkpad t410's

 

any help would be greatly appreciated

I dont know anywhere that sells just keys but we buy the replacement keyboards and then keep the old one for keys.

buy a new keyboard for it and keep the old one

@ICTDirect_Dave may be able tp give you a good price for a keyboard for that machine

To solve future problems with the future keys, take them off yourself, and super glue them on. I've not tried this myself, but it sounds sane enough to actually work.

I work in a pupil referral unit and we have the same problem here from time to time (sometimes they break the rubber cups too), the best way I have found of doing it is buying a new keyboard for the laptop and keeping the old one for spare keys, though sometimes the replacemenet keyboard has different hinges to the old one!

Lenovo Keyboards are notorious as there are about six different variations in the chiclet configuration in any given Thinkpad keyboard. The chances of two keyboards having interchangeable keys aren't great!

 

Annoyingly they're also about the only model of laptop without a readily available aftermarket keyboard at a reasonable price.

 

I've got a few uk T410/T420 UK keyboards here that you could have for £30 each:)

No. Due to the way the keys move on the plastic there isn't anything to superglue too. Applying glue will stick the key in the up or down position, it won't move if glue is applied.

But it would stop the children removing them though.....

Make them wear boxing gloves so that they can't pick at the keys.
