TechMonkey Posted July 11, 2017 Posted July 11, 2017 It was looked at here but we found that it didn't really do much, we thought it wasn't working as nothing we changed was following the user . Opened a call with MS and then found we had got it all right, it was just a very limited set of items that followed the user. The way to test is to adjust something like the font in Notepad. If that follows the user it is working. Things like start bar position and desktop links do not follow using UE-V. In the end we have decided to not bother as it doesn't seem to do anything of worth and the documentation, and MS' knowledge, is severely lacking. 1

That's what i was thinking, profiles can be really problematic at times so i would assume uev would be a popular choice, especially with a W10 rebuild being a good opportunity to try something new. But lack of info puts a question mark on whether it's worth rolling out to a live environment
skell Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 UE-V is weird. I've set it up as per the docs. I can open Notepad, change the font, close it, see the files have been updated in the settings store, log off, go to another computer, log on with the same user, check notepad, and... nothing. The change hasn't pulled through. I can change the font on the second PC, close notepad and see the file in the store be updated, but again, when logging onto computer 1, the change is nowhere to be found. Anyone any clue as to what I'm doing wrong?

We are using local profiles and want to "roam" these settings. I've been banging my head against the wall with Chrome and UE-V for the past couple of weeks. I've tried downloading templates (including the one from Djerf) as well as creating my own but none of them seem to work, to the point where they don't even create folders on the UE-V data store when Chrome is closed. I've read that it all worked well until v56 was released earlier this year and that seemed to break UE-V compatibility for everyone, then v57 came out and it worked again for some people but not for others, including me 1

It's a real issue for me because we plan on using local profiles with windows 10 and we want to use UE-V to allow users to save favorites.
JamboD Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 (edited) Yeah, it could well have been broken in 58 and fixed in 59 - I've kind of lost track to be honest! I'll keep trying with it and report back if I have any success. I just got Azure AD Sync SSO enabled which doesn't appear to work with Edge (although it did at my last school!) but it works perfectly with Chrome so it's looking like Chrome's going to be have to be our default browser when we finally launch W10 to the masses. We're aiming for the same setup as you by the sounds of it - local profile and UE-V. Another annoyance I've found is that UE-V doesn't seem to support Edge, you need Enterprise State Roaming. It's almost like they don't want us to use Edge! I did get favourites saving in Edge by using IE's UE-V template and enabling the "Keep favourites in sync between IE and Edge".
