That's brilliant! Thank you so much Jason, we are using Canon devices and changing the "Spooling at Host" option to disabled has allowed me to print to both of the queues we need. Now I just need to get the client installed through InTune and I'll have some very happy staff

Hi Matthew, we were hoping to allow the teachers to have access to all of the finishing options available on the photocopiers. I don't believe that that is possible with Mobility Print.

Thank you for your reply Jason. Yes, I've looked at the log and it appears that the job is not being deleted from the Mobility Print queue, for some reason it's being assigned to SYSTEM ("Holding job printed by "system" in hold/release queue").

Hi all, I'm trying to set up Print Deploy on our PaperCut server to allow our non-domain joined devices to access our print queues with full finishing options, I can get the client installed and logged in but the print queues never appear on the device. If I check the logs I can see that Print Deploy knows what printers are required but the installation fails because it says that the username and/or password are incorrect, even though the client has authenticated against the server and I can print to these queues from a domain joined machine. I have tried deploying them as Mobility Print queues instead (as suggested in another post) and Print Deploy installs them, but when I print the job spools on to the server and is immediately deleted which makes me wonder if there is some setting I have missed on the queue to make this work. Has anyone come across this issue before please? Thanks

Do you have WSUS setup at all? I can't remember what my error was now but I fixed it with a post on TechNet, you can either download the Features on Demand ISO or change a GPO which is how I got it working. Apparently 1809 asks WSUS for RSAT but WSUS knows nothing about them. The fix for me was: Then I ran the following PowerShell command to install all of the RSAT tools: Get-WindowsCapability -Online | Where-Object { $_.Name -like "RSAT*" -and $_.State -eq "NotPresent" } | Add-WindowsCapability -Online

We've just moved to Access IT from Eclipse as well, the data migration went very smoothly and as you said the librarian client is fast - especially in comparison to Eclipse where just issuing a book could be a challenge for even the most patient of people! I was a bit concerned to find out that the client is Java based but apart from that it looks like a fantastic upgrade from MLS. We're just working with Access IT to get it working with our Single Sign On solution and we should be ready to go

Just spotted "Do not connect to any Windows Update Internet locations" but that can cause issues with the Windows Store which may or may not be a problem...

The only thing close to that which I've found in GP is: Computer Config > Policies > Admin Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Windows Update for Business > Select when Preview Builds and Feature Updates are received If you put it on Semi-Annual Channel that will delay the update for up to 4 months after release to general public but that's not going to be much use

Unfortunately I don't think there's a policy available in GP or SCCM which can do that. Which version of Windows 10 is installed on the Surfaces? I could be completely wrong but I don't think that Education/Enterprise releases can get those kinds of upgrades via regular Windows Update, I remember trying to update Education when a new version was released to the general public but there was a 2 week delay getting the new ISO on to the VLSC. I tried to update via WU but nothing showed up so I tried to force it with the update tool and I got an error basically saying that the IT department would have to update it and there was nothing I could do, I think I may also have hit a brick wall downloading and manually running the update package. With that said, it was a while ago and may have changed, 1709 didn't have the same delay

Yeah, it could well have been broken in 58 and fixed in 59 - I've kind of lost track to be honest! I'll keep trying with it and report back if I have any success. I just got Azure AD Sync SSO enabled which doesn't appear to work with Edge (although it did at my last school!) but it works perfectly with Chrome so it's looking like Chrome's going to be have to be our default browser when we finally launch W10 to the masses. We're aiming for the same setup as you by the sounds of it - local profile and UE-V. Another annoyance I've found is that UE-V doesn't seem to support Edge, you need Enterprise State Roaming. It's almost like they don't want us to use Edge! I did get favourites saving in Edge by using IE's UE-V template and enabling the "Keep favourites in sync between IE and Edge".

I've been banging my head against the wall with Chrome and UE-V for the past couple of weeks. I've tried downloading templates (including the one from Djerf) as well as creating my own but none of them seem to work, to the point where they don't even create folders on the UE-V data store when Chrome is closed. I've read that it all worked well until v56 was released earlier this year and that seemed to break UE-V compatibility for everyone, then v57 came out and it worked again for some people but not for others, including me

It's a long time since I've had to deal with this but as I remember, when Outlook connects to Exchange and requests a mailbox which has been migrated, Exchange will redirect Outlook to 365 automatically and it is fairly seemless for the end user

Hi Tom, I'll be really interested to see how you get on with it. I've just been experimenting with the SSO provided by syncing the Windows 10 clients to Azure but Cookie365 doesn't appear to like it. SSO is working properly and Cookie365 is picking up the correct details when I run it but when it retrieves cookies I get "[ERROR]:Buffer cannot be null.", seems like quite a popular error on the comments for Cookie365! Hi Tom, I was just wondering if you ever managed to test this with just the AD Connect version of SSO? I'd really like to get our student's OneDrives mapping but I don't have ADFS set up and it looks like the AD Connect version is far easier to implement Thanks, James

We're having this problem too. I have tried storing the XML file on a share and also in the Public Documents folder but with no luck. I'll try putting the file in the Windows folder as suggested and see if we have anymore luck with that.

As I said in my last post, this behaviour seems to be by design. As long as Microsoft Update KB3163912 is installed on a client you will get the UAC/Admin prompt. The only we found to get it working was to manually install the drivers on every computer which meant clicking the Install Driver button on that prompt. After we did that the printers map for non-admin users.

We’ve come up against this issue with Win 10 1607, the Event Viewer errors said that the printers couldn’t map because there were no drivers installed. It turns out that MS have patched an attack that has existed since Win 95 but was only reported/discovered in July. Their solution has been to release an update which has broken the group policy setting that allows drivers to be installed without elevation. I tried changing the settings as suggested in Microsoft’s guidance but can't get it to work, we had to install the printer manually by clicking through the UAC prompt. The printers map with no issues since that process installed the drivers . You could uninstall the update from Win 7 & 8 but with Win 10 it's all cumulative now

I had the same issue regards MSN opening at logon, found the answer here. Just had to push out a Registry Key in GPP: "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NlaSvc\Parameters\Internet" set the EnableActiveProbing key to 0 and that fixed the problem. This stops Windows from checking that it has an Internet connection at startup which means that until you access the Internet in some way the network icon will have a yellow warning symbol next to it but I'm happier with that than Edge opening at every logon - I wouldn't mind so much if it opened the custom homepage I've set!

Not sure if this is old news now but I saw a post on Microsoft Connect which said that the issue with Edge and Cortana crashing with roaming profiles has been addressed in the April 16 Cumulative Update. I've just done a couple of quick tests with a fully patched copy of Windows 10 Education 1511 and it does appear to have finally been fixed. This bug was introduced in November and it took them 5 months to get round to squashing it!

Hi, Long time lurker, first time poster here! I'm hoping that someone here might be able to help me out with an issue that I'm having where a GPO doesn't apply consistently. We have group policies set up which lock a computer down (disabling proofing tools in Word etc...) but there only seems to be about a 50/50 chance of the policies applying correctly. There is no obvious pattern to combinations of users and computers, we can't guarantee that an account which successfully logs on to a computer once will subsequently be able to log on to that same computer correctly again. I've looked through the Group Policy\Operational log and the only thing I can say with certainty is that when an account successfully logs on the loopback processing is set to Merge mode, if it doesn't apply properly LBP will have been set to Replace. It doesn't appear to matter which DC the computer communicates with during log on. I've checked all GPOs and in every case where LBP is configured on a policy it is set to Merge. Has anyone got any bright ideas that may be able to help me as I'm out of ideas and Googling LBP just returns the same old "What is loopback processing?" articles. Thanks!
