steven_layton_sl Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Grumble, grumble, MSIs used to *just* work, grumble, grumble.... Does anyone know the switch to silently install the ActivDriver .exe installer? We have an RM CC4 network, and I need to know the switch to add to the .exe install process. I'm trying to install 5.16.5 x64. Thanks
steven_layton_sl Posted May 31, 2017 Author Posted May 31, 2017 Excellent! The last thing I had read was that Promethean had stopped creating MSIs, in favour of using a BitRock installer. The fact that they still have MSIs is great news. Thanks for the link.
DangPro Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Promethean is moving away from the Bitrock installer and the latest drivers are in MSI format. 1
bossman Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 @Michael On this note: The installer has the serial part disabled by default is there anyway to force both usb and serial to install silently at the same time?
Michael Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Only driver version 5.9 has both Serial and USB drivers enabled. Anything later doesn't. The only solution is to install the driver manually, to the best of my knowledge and select Serial.
phillyrovers Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Hi All, Just to clarify....all of the Promethean ActivDriver have the ability to connect via Serial. The msiexec command for this is: msiexec /i "Driver64\ActivDriver x64.msi" /q ALLUSERS=1 addlocal=all This will install both Serial and USB components. However, there is a bug with ActivDriver v5.10 and above (up to and include 5.16.5) whereby the Serial component of the ActivDriver will NOT auto connect to serial boards. There is a registry key which is being wrongly reset: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\ActivHidSerMini\Parameters\Activport The above registry key will be being set to 1...regardless of the connections you have available, or which COM port the computer has assigned to the ActivBoard. You may need to monitor the above key and assign to the correct port number. Hope this helps. 1

You wouldn't happen to have 32bit and 64bit versions of these as MSIs would you? or anyone for that matter? Would be a great help Thanks in advance
phillyrovers Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Hi bossman, They should be available here: https://promethean.box.com/s/06y6oo3isf3l13pzuzfqhpeiiqbwkslm Thanks
Michael Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 I only have a 64Bit version which is an MSI. As I say, otherwise I just install the driver manually where required, rather than on every machine.
bossman Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 @Michael Sorted now, thanks to @phillyrovers, 64bit deployed and tested, just deploying 32bit now as we not fully 64bit compliant due to lack of funding 😒
