We have seen this also, do you use Impero on this machine?

Yes. Can't blame impero for everything.

Although V1703 has fixed our black screen issue.

Well it isn't the fonts that are at fault :( it happened again to me this morning.

Signed out and back in again and all is solved. I wonder what is going on?

Scratch that, signing out and signing back in again didn't fix it this time, I've had to reboot this time :(

Well... you can. The way in which it works, it interacts with every part of the OS. Causing little issues along the way it seems!

We have tested 10 pcs, 5 with impero, 5 without and the issue is non existent on the 5 without.

Do you have impero built in to your main image? I built a new image V1703 without impero and will see how its gets on.

We deploy Impero outside of our W10 build and still experience the same issues as everyone. Impero kinda makes it difficult to troubleshoot issues as I never know if the problem is going to be Impero or W10 related..

Same here, Impero is deployed with SCCM after the image.

It's so intermittent for me, it happens every now and again, but 90% of the time I don't have any issues, so it would be hard to test with Impero removed; I wouldn't know if it was fixed or not.

Just installed 1703 on a machine; fresh install using MDT and have just experienced this issue. Right Click start menu contains no text whatsoever, desktop icons have no text and control panel shows only icons!

Crikey! Looks like we'll be holding back on 1703 for now. :(

Impero again?!

Who knows! I had it installed, so I've just uninstalled Impero to see if it helps. Various reboots beforehand did bring parts of it back, but this is just getting silly. If it is Impero....... then..... argggg....

We have tested with fresh installs with and without impero (rather than uninstalling it) and have found that without fail it only occurs when Impero has been installed.

Indeed arggg!

New update released.

May 9, 2017—KB4016871 (OS Build 15063.296 and 15063.297)

Improvements and fixes

This security update includes quality improvements. No new operating system features are being introduced in this update. Key changes include:

Addressed issue with Surface Hub devices waking from sleep approximately every four minutes after the first two hours.

Addressed issue where autochk.exe can randomly skip drive checks and not fix corruptions, which may lead to data loss.

Addressed an issue where Microsoft Edge users in networking environments that do not fully support the TCP Fast Open standard may have problems connecting to some websites. Users can re-enable TCP Fast Open in about:flags.

Addressed issues with Arc Touch mouse Bluetooth connectivity.

Security updates to Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Graphics Component, Windows SMB Server, Windows COM, Microsoft Scripting Engine, Windows kernel, Windows Server, and the .NET Framework.

If you installed earlier updates, only the new fixes contained in this package will be downloaded and installed on your device.

Wonder if the bold update will fix things?

I've installed that update now, will see how things go. If it is an Impero problem though I doubt it will solve much

Hi all,

In case it helps, I've just created a VM for 1703, installed 6045 and have been unable to replicate the problem. I've then performed all windows updates and tested, then upgraded to 6.0.79 and tested, still unable to replicate this.

I then removed Impero, ran a sysprep and started again, same results.

@sccmlouis I'd be interested to know the differences between our builds, please could you PM me your details so I can be in touch on Monday?

Thanks

Mic @ Impero

I don't think a VM will show this up.

A few of us have gone from v1607 with impero installed. Ran the upgrade to v1703 and now getting this problem. (More notible when the computer being used by different people (switched users, log off and new person logs on)

ps we was on v5.3.32. (guessing this as I'm at home)

Thanks for the extra info. We'll get onto testing this on some physical machines next week and under some load, log on / off, different types of profiles etc.
