gaz350b Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 We have been deploying windows 10 for a couple of weeks and one thing that is really bugging me is none of the login screen clocks are in sync. Login and check the time and it's in sync. Log out again and they are no longer in sync. Anyone seen this and fixed it?

ITGURU Posted March 16, 2017 Posted March 16, 2017 All our machines on win 10 are within a minute time differene. DC is configured to get time from internet then used s NTP server for everything i.e swiches, VOIP, Door Access, CCTV so all in sync.

Mmm yeah, our machines all have the same time (from the DCs which get time from NTP server) when logged in. But when sat at the login screen they vary by a couple of mins. Just as the OP said.

Katy Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 We also get this, they all get their time from one of the domain controllers, and they get their time from upstream DCs at the trust, and theirs get their time from some sort of internet clock source. Furthest out we see them is 1 minute though. Log in to two that were showing different times and get them to re-sync from the DC and you find they were both already identical to the DC..... odd
sparkeh Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 If you've configured a time server, this shouldn't be an issue @micheal at risk of repeating myself, and what others have said, the actual machine times are correct and are all syncing from the same source. When logged in all the machines have the same time, it's the log in screens that are different. I agree that it shouldn't be an issue but clearly it is. Although as the actual machine times are correct and in sync it's not a problem.
Katy Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 I bet it's something daft like it only refreshes that screen once every 30 seconds or minute, and they all hit that screen at a different time so it gives the appearance of "that one's a minute ahead" .

Mine is perhaps slightly different in that the actual Windows clock times seem to be within 1 minute of each other, but the login screen is showing a drift of two or three minutes. It's actually causing problems with students arguing about when they need to leave the library. (I know)
FishCustard Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 Personally I'd just turn the lock screen off - gets users to the login screen quicker.
