kennysarmy Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 Next week my daughter is training it up to Birmingham from Gloucester to see Jack Whitehall at the Genting Arena in the evening. There are no trains back that late so it's Dad's taxi to go do the pickup. I don't know the area/layout at all so would I be able to park and wait for free or is there anything to do whilst I wait? Is there a pub anywhere near where I could watch Man Utd v St Etienne and then go do the pickup? Cheers

CAM Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 One of the hotels near the airport (not sure if it's Travelodge or Premier Inn) show football. You can take a free monorail between the NEC station concourse and departure lounge. Parking....not sure. It's near an airport so I'd expect waiting restrictions or charges everywhere. Last time I visited was for a hotel-based convention where the organisers had arranged free parking for attendees in the hotel car park. 1
manc_techie Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 There's a Subway and Wetherspoons in there from memory or plane-spotting 1
Willott Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 If you're willing to wait slightly away from there, there's a couple of pubs just up the A45 towards brum (watch out for the speed cameras), or you could head towards Solihull or Knowle for pubs to sit in. Thinking about it, I think there's a toby carvery on the A45 the other way at the next island from the motorway - stonebridge island 1
