woreilly Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I am currently looking into upgrading a school from VPP/DEP to Apple School Manager. I have logged in to https://school.apple.com/#upgrade. It then asks me to update the security questions before I can continue. This is where I am running into difficulty. I click on the update link that appears and nothing happens. Has anyone else ran into this issue before? How did you fix it? FYI, I have tried using Chrome & Edge on my Windows 10 laptop. Internet Explorer is not supported. I have also tried Safari on MacOS.
woreilly Posted January 26, 2017 Author Posted January 26, 2017 Been a development to this. Managed to re-set the security questions at appleid.apple.com. I was no longer being asked to update them in ASM. However, when attempting to login, I just get chucked back out to the login screen. Could this be to do with not being properly signed up for DEP at deploy.apple.com?
sarahstacey Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I had a similar problem and after a prolonged call to Apple support i was advised to clear the cache on my browser. Which actually worked. Hope that helps.
woreilly Posted January 26, 2017 Author Posted January 26, 2017 Have attempted clearing cache in both Edge & Chrome and still nothing doing. Another colleague has also suggested not calling Apple as hardly anyone you get through to actually knows what Apple School Manager is
bjohnny42 Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 I've just had a look at upgrading and have seen this. Whilst making the call to apple I was informed that we had an old vpp account. (Pre2014) and that I must create a new one, migrate the content, update to DEP and then i'd be able to move onto VPP....... I should be sent the details on what to do within an hour... We are an hour and half now and still nothing.... Oh dear....
loxford120 Posted January 31, 2017 Posted January 31, 2017 I also have a pre 2014 vpp account so when trying to upgrade Apple rejected. Will be a very long process to upgrade to School Manager and reading their literature takes you into circles.
woreilly Posted February 2, 2017 Author Posted February 2, 2017 We are all sorted now. After the school were verified for DEP on deploy.apple.com and two-step verification was setup, the upgrade to ASM process went through straight away and now we're all good!
Brimstone Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 For anyone else having this issue, essentially you have to enrol in deploy.apple.com and set up 2 step Verification before you can upgrade to ASM, these support documents explain this in more detail.. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT206590
