Sorry - forgot to ask, do they have a separate processing charge? Worldpay (schools cash office) and WisePay both charge 10p per transaction.

Thanks

Would assume so, given the banks who almost always provide the payment gateways charge a % fee... Otherwise a flay fee would either be a ridiculous amount to cover it or would be loss making.

In fact I know for a fact ParentPay do because it changed recently, so I am told.

Just to clarify, Schoolcomms charges are:-

Instant Bank Transfer = 16p per transaction flat charge (60% of transactions are now made via this... there is no additional Gateway charge)

Debit Card = 22p per transaction + 10p Gateway transaction charge (around 30% of payments are made via this)

Credit Card = 1.5% of transaction amount (Premium and Standard cards flat rate) + 10p Gateway transaction charge (around 10% of payments)

Give us a call if you want to have a look at the system and quiz us on the pro's and con's - or speak to a school near you who uses Schoolcomms Payments.

Hope that helps.

Sorry to open an old thread but..

We have just gone ahead and purchased Schoolcomms payments system and about to cancel with Parentpay as our contract runs out in February..... that's what we thought.

Please be careful with Parentpay as they have auto renewed our contract for three years (to Feb 2020)!! Get ready for the Lancashire County Council Legal team....

You sure your dates add up there? If it's 3 year renew to Feb 2020 it would have been Feb 17 this year it renewed so someone must have agreed? (Just mean before contacting legal etc :p)

Yeah we Purchased in Feb 2014 for a 3 year contract, which took us to Feb 2017.

Haven't heard anything from them until today when we tried to cancel and they have told us they auto renewed the contract for another 3 years to Feb 2020.

Yes, but my point was you said:

Which assumes that someone knows it was renewed to think it would run until Feb 18? Else it would have ended Feb 17. It just sounds like someone renewed it at Feb 17 (or at least knew it was renewed) to think you had another year to use it etc?

If no notice was given when it expired at Feb 17 and it renewed as standard and you've been using it the last year still that isn't really their fault :p (Sorry)

I believed we renewed in Feb 17 for another year - not three years. We paid for one year. No contracts signed this year either. Unsure where we stand.

If no new contracts were signed, and nothing was cancelled I'd say you renewed under the old contract on a 3 year term as they mentioned. If someone thinks it was renewed under a new 1 year lease etc it should either be in the original contract that it's going back to 1 year auto renewals after, or a new contract etc

Might be worth checking with your finance team and look at the original contract that was signed.

Auto-renewing contracts are an interesting one although they are enforceable in law the OFT have a dim view of them and it would take a balls out brave company to go up against the OFT! all to do with limiting a customers ability to switch and they take an even bigger issue with contracts that auto renew for the same period or longer than the initial contract (anti competitive).

Sorry I've just read the start of the thread - the whole point is they are the same company!

BTW the OFT have become the CMA.

oh the irony.

Hi

Yes Schoolcomms is in the same group as ParentPay. So the good news is that we can switch you to Schoolcomms without you paying for two licences – our policy is that schools only pay for one product… which seems fair.

Please contact Antoinette in our Sales Team and she’ll sort this for you. :)

We renewed again last year on what was a one year contract - rang up to cancel in May and found out they’d changed the wording on our invoice/contract - which by paying it we accepted.
