kennysarmy Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 I've downloaded the inetres.adm template file for IE7 on XP SP2. I've opened up my Group Policy Management tool from an XP SP2 workstation and wanted to add in this new template to test IE7 on a new build. When I try and add the template it says "Confirm File Replace". I guess it is trying to over-write the inetres.adm for IE6. Question: Should I over-write this file or rename my inetres.adm file for IE7 to inetres7.adm so they can co-exist, OR, will the old setting for IE6 get picked up if I replace the adm file. Thanks.
Diello Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Overwrite is fine - it's simply an "upgrade".
Michael Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 I can confirm you should overwrite in each GPO. You can control IE6 and IE7 on 2000/XP. You'll see IE7 has a lot more policies overall.
