nadeem Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 Whilst the printers at work are great, I do occasionally need to print documents at home, so does anyone have recommendations for a printer that will do colour. Key things for me would be, small footprint, wireless (very handy), and ink/toner that doesn't run out every 3 seconds! I'm assuming a small colour laser would be best. I already have a small Samsung mono scanner/printer, but am realising the limitations of not having colour when doing a lot of spreadsheet work. Its been so long since I've looked at home printers, that I'm totally out of the loop on what's decent nowadays (my last colour printer at home was probably the Lexmark Z13!)

Printing is limited at her school??? sound a bit daft if she needs it you shouldn't be using your own paper and ink/toner too much for pure work stuff

In a lot of schools it isn't just printing. Teachers buy pens, pencils and other stationery out of their own pocket.

I got the "+scanner" model of that: Dell c1765nfw when eBuyer were knocking them out for a hundred and something a few years back. Very pleased with it. However I don't do a lot of printing; I went for a laser as I was sick of going to print and finding the ink had clogged in the jets/pipes. I'm only 1/2 way through the black and 3/4 on the colours. OEM refills aren't cheap, but compatibles are OK (in price, never tested one). 1

newpersn Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 Hp printer with the instant ink. 300 prints a month plus roll over. Mine gets hammaned with kids stuff. Wife's course stuff and photos. All for £8 a month. Plus depends on what printer you buy you get a trial of some months.

I would recommend laser all the way, that was ink doesn't dry up. I wouldn't entertain the HP idea where you get x prints free but one thing I will say with any device look at how much it would cost to replace toners/drums etc as and when they do, sometimes its worth spending a bit more to get cheaper consumables as some it can be cheaper to buy a new printer when they run out! Dell are re-branded Lexmark machines also.
