Prepping/Go to/Bug out bags/boxes

Bit of an American thing this but thought Id mention it as weather warnings are for severe weather.

 

In America a lot of people 'Prep' themselves for any emergency.

 

They usually have Go to boxes/bags stored in cars or locations easy to access in case of emergency.

I have used some ideas of things Ive seen on videos to better equip my car for emergencies.

 

Anyone do this sort of thing?

Not so much a bug-out bag, but I've got a decent selection of things in my car.

 

Lamp, Tyre Compressor, Basic First Aid Kit, Fire extinguisher, rope for towing, jump leads, decent breakers bar for changing tyres etc, Survival blanket and survival tin (still left over from when I used to do DoE).

 

This is more just in case I get stuck somewhere, as opposed to worrying about if the worlds gone to pop, though.

yeah same for me too. I just find it useful for ideas to put in my car.

With the rise of extreme right-wingers in power, I'm thinking full on "Armageddon prepping" rather than a bag.

i have a blanket/rug & first aid kit(and car came with a compressor rather than a spare) in the car because its useful but beyond that no i cant think of any realistic situation where id need that stuff and wouldnt be better just leaving the car at the side of the road and walking or getting it recovered to a garage. Start too far down that road and you need a fully kitted out milatary hum vee with 1 months rarions etc. Generally in the uk the climate wont kill you unless you are stupid or very unlucky

I just keep an air compressor and a couple of blankets (which have a remarkable similarity to those you get on long haul air trips - not that I knicked them or anything) plus the normal tools etc that came with the car

 

but I suppose I could upgrade

 

I suppose some basic first aid would be a good idea - and energy bars (although I will probably substiture chocolate!)

 

and the machete and rifle look like possibilities:) - not bothering with soap or condoms
