Smart ink issue with IE11

I have just upgraded smart notebook from smart notebook 10 to smart notebook 11.3 so teachers could use smart ink to write on power points presentation while they are on the smart-boards , but since doing that when you go to google in IE 11 it will not allow you to type in the search box. Has anyone else had this trouble and know a solution.

There are a number of issues with IE and Notebook 11. The only real fix is to update to one of the later versions, requiring an up to date license subscription.

Check which version of smart ink you have. We had this issue and just had to upgrade the smart ink component.

11.4 should resolve all the IE11 issues. And you don't need a subscription

We had this issue with IE and Smart Ink too and found that selecting the option to 'hide smart ink' under the application settings resolved this.

 

It essential stops the Smart Ink overlay running in IE until a pen is picked up and used to draw on the board and still allows the user to annotate over slides in Power Point.

I use Smart Notebook 11.4 and disable Smart Ink - you can do this in two ways -

 

Remove it from Programs and Features and/or

 

Delete the registry entry so it doesn't start at Startup.
