Hi, I have been asked to order a class set of tablets for our year 4 in a primary school. The teachers already have Galaxy S2 tablets so I wanted to get Samsung for the pupils. I have found 2 types that are very similar

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7"

Samsung Galaxy Tab A, 7”

The Tab A seems to be newer as it supports Android 5 and I think the other one only supports Android 4 (from what I can tell) but the Tab A is cheaper, which makes no sense to me as that seems newer.

Does anyone know which is the better tablet?

Has anyone used either of these tablets and would they be OK for a class set?

Thanks

even android 5 is 2 generations out of date. How are you planning to manage them as much as i hate to say it its sooo much easier with ipads its also much easier to get cases etc for ipads

I think they probably come with V4 or V5 but can be upgraded for a few years. I am assuming the one that comes with V5 is a newer model but not sure.

We do have some ipads at this school but they don't really get used. Most of the teachers have Android tablets at home.

The A is a 2016 model and is better specced, with a quicker processor and better camera, as well as newer Android version (5.1). It's probably cheaper because it uses parts that are more low-end than they were when the 4 was released - prices have been cut to shift these as a more mid to low end model. There may also be more stock in the channel - the 4 isn't available to buy direct but the A is.

I get the so being out of date, but can't you just manage with a MDM solution
