Hey,

I can access invisionfree.com and bored.com fine using AOL but when I try going to them using Firefox or IE7 it says that it is taking to long for them to load.

I did a tracert on bored.com and get this:

can anyone help me fix it?

I hate it when you think someones replied but they're just having the same problem but that's the case here. Maybe we can get to the bottom of it together?

Can I ask who you're host is? Mine is siteground. I can't access their site either but can access other sites on the web (not youtube however where I get the same response). I also tried getting to your site via firefox and ie but couldn't (could on aol- so it's the exact same problem with the same "timed out" response on the same server). Like you it started yesterday too.

Have you tried viewing your site on a different computer? I can get to my site via a friends computer. I didn't ping my website there when I had the chance as I thought a server was down somewhere (it may well be).

When I ping from my connection and traceroute I have exactly the same results. Looking at other forums they're suggesting changing the MTU. This site:

http://help.expedient.com/broadband/mtu_ping_test.shtml has an MTU test that my connection failed on. Maybe give it a whirl?

Im am also having this, my brother wants to get on the invisionfree.com.

I am with AOL as well.

What part of the country are you 2 from?

You're in Rochdale - so am I! It looks like a server is down but I'd welcome other opinions...

No luck with the mtu test I mentioned above.

Near Phoenix Park Industrial estate.

I just tried "tune-up utilities" to optimise my web browser, and aol's own computer check up. No solution there; still can't access my site, or siteground (my web host), or even youtube using firefox, ie7, safari but can with aol. And could yesterday on firefox when at my friends house in Stacksteads (north of Rochdale).

Tell me about it, no one else will provide me. Not even BT. Zen will but they are a little expensive, but now i am earning i am thinking about using them instead.

I don't use any of the cappy AOL software though. Just the line.

hmmm. could this be some sort of DNS problem? maybe AOL has a DNS specifyed in there software(hard coded if u may..) and IE isn't getting the same DNS settings?

seems a bit of a weird problem....

why does AOL even bundle there service with software? its just another bloody browser web designers need to cater for. and a crap browser at that!!!

This is part of the transcript of the session I just had with aol livehelp:

"17:49:42Steven65:I've forwarded your details on to our in-house team, they will be able to fix this from our end, not too sure how much longer this will go on for, really do apologise for this inconvenience.

17:50:02Steven65:They say to give it less than 24 hours now, but, they said that yesterday too I'm afraid"

Looks like aol are aware of the problem but not sure what their "fix" will be and whether it'll be "system wide" or just those who bother to contact them...
