ozydave Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 I know it's a needed to strengthen our safeguarding policy. But getting it across to SLT is a different matter. Any offers ? Cheers in advance
FN-GM Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 What do you have now? And why do you want it? I do think its one of the only filters that comply with prevent though. 1

FN-GM Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 There are plenty of filters that comply with Prevent. Filtering Provider Responses | Safer Internet Centre I didn't say the only.... Compared the amount of products on the market that isn't very many.
strawberry Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 What do you have in place at the moment?
Blue_Cookeh Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 (edited) I'd like to know why you're after Smoothwall too? Out of all the testing I did for on-site filtering Sophos (UTM not XG) came out as suiting our environment the best, it came out cheaper, had more features, and was compliant with prevent. That's the same for us also. We bought 5 Sophos UTM boxes for our trust.
Gibbo Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 I found Sophos UTM absolutely terrible. Box had to keep being restarted until it was finally resolved by a firmware update. Smoothwall just works, and the user interface is far better than Sophos in my opinion.
rrrrr Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 I went from smoothwall to sophos. Smoothwalls support was poor and the product felt buggy with a counterintuitive user interface. I was very happy with the sophos solution. Felt a more polished product with better support.
Edu-IT Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Does Sophos do the dynamic page filtering etc?
Garacesh Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 Realistically if you're going from [Nothing] to [something] I'd advise you go down the UTM Firewall route rather than the Proxy route, finances permitting. Don't get me wrong, I'm a happy Smoothwall customer, and I would recommend them, but the UTM route just seems the better option if you're not bolting things onto already-existing infrastructure.
