Blogging for primary kids?

Our year 5 are learning about blogging. I have been asked to provide a platform for them to use.

 

As we have 365 I have looked at Delve but that looks a little complex possibly?

 

What do other people use and would recommend?

Our school wesbite uses school Jotter so they just log in with that.

 

I've also been working on a blog for multiple schools and I ended up going with Google Sites. Easy to use and you can just set up some generic gmail account for them to edit it with.

I setup wordpress on a little VM, they didn't want kids to be able to access it from home.

Would be worth looking at j2bloggy - we tried it last year, and although we had a few issues using it through rm unify, the product itself looked fairly good.

@Joanne I used https://www.apachefriends.org/index.html XAMPP and bitnami wordpress install module. Basically a couple of clicks and you have a working wordpress site.

I've used wordpress internally on a linux server vm. Works well but setting up individual usernames for kids is a bit of a pain. I tweaked the perms so they could publish pages.

 

Used backwpup to back it up with a cron script to copy it to the dc where it gets onto our main backups.

Edublogs is good for web based stuff and for a small payment it lets you add students and student blogs. It runs on WordPress so it's nice and easy to use.

We're looking at kidblog.org, simply because it allows teachers to approve content, comment etc before it gets posted out to the real world.

 

Cost is something like $44 per year.

 

There are some other free stuff out there, but not with the approval stuff that we think we probably need?

 

Any other suggestions please?
