hkazi Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Hi, So we have this desktop (HP 8300) which needs replacing but the teacher who uses it is very reluctant to part with it. I was wondering if there is any of causing the pc to slow down or appear to be corrupted so we can finally swap it out!! We have set the antivirus to set off every hour but the pc still annoyingly works fine ... It needs to be something discreet like a startup script or something that we can run in the background.
3s-gtech Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Do you think it may continue to work fine because it's actually still a powerful and usable piece of kit?
hkazi Posted September 23, 2016 Author Posted September 23, 2016 yes it is a good piece of kit but we have a programme where we decommission pcs that have reached the end of their 5 year warranty. We are replacing everything with dell and this is the last HP in the entire building!
garethEds Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Surely nothing wrong with the 8300? I have one and it's fine.
witch Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Or if it really does need to go - then SLT tell her so. End of

You don't need a script. Replace the computer. If needed, inform the user that you are upgrading their device. If this person is an extra special snowflake tell them you are doing it to "protect the children" or for "esafety reasons". If you want, you can cover my travel costs and I will come up and do it. 2

elsiegee40 Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 (edited) @hkazi You have very few posts on edugeek and we have no idea who you are Forgive me, but this is a professional forum and this kind of thing may be joked about but should not be discussed. Especially with someone who we don't know. I shall be moderating this thread Edited September 23, 2016 by elsiegee40
