[closed] bug/error: Is EduGeek Slow This Morning?

The site seems to be running slowly for me this morning, e.g. once I've posted something, I see the "thanks for posting, we'll redirect you" screen for a few seconds where normally this is next-to-instant, same goes for the New Posts search button.

 

Is it me, a site issue or one of Those Things?

I'm getting the same thing here, also the search feature wasn't returning any results for stuff that I know is here. I'm thinking that something is being changed or something on the server has gone off into the weeds.

Yep - getting the redirect msg for about 2 secs before it goes off to new posts

Definitely slower today. I'm used to it slowing down in the evenings; I assumed this was my rubbishy BT line at home

 

Actually, it's quite handy this morning. I've got 140 newsletters to fols and can do this while waiting for things to appear

Yes, I noticed it was chugging a bit but It's better now. I though it was probably just our crappy fibre-optic link to the LEAs servers again.

Very true, and I wasn't complaining so much as seeing if we (i.e. this school) had an Internet issue or to alert the site admins to a potential problem.

 

It is quicker than the old one, and that it good, but slow-downs (usually) happen for a reason, and if that reason can be fixed, then result.

Hmm, I think the site is faster for me.

There were tweaks made in the early hours of last night. I will revert the one I think is causing the delay.

Please comment if you think it has helped as there is one other possible change that could effect the site.

Don't know what others observe, but the search times when I click New posts appear to be the same as usual 0.02 seconds usually.

 

Is it taking longer because it's displaying this "Redirecting..." window? It's starting to drive me potty.

Yeah, page access times is fine - it's just the introduction of the "Your search is in progress and you will be taken to the results in a moment. Thank you for your patience." message that slows down the process.

OMG, just realised I did not switch that option off last night.

I have reverted the server tweak I disabled earlier (aka turned it back on) and I fixed the incorrect configuration for the "pending" messages (you will see a lot less of them).

Sorry about that.

Yeh I just forgot to switch that off after running tests. The tweaks should actually make pages load faster in general especially after first load.

ignoring the redirect glitch today, how is the browsing speed now around the site by comparison to yesterday?
