This is normal - every Windows version requires an updated version of RSAT.

I've never understood why Microsoft don't make this a Windows Feature so you can manually switch it on/off as required, rather than a separate download.

Don't worry i confused myself!

I normaly use AD via a snap-in in MMC instead of the newer AD admin centre, which i should use more now!

Brain fart moment!

Top of my head it was weeks Microsoft released RSAT after Windows 10 was originally released. Hopefully it won't be that long as I plan on deploying 1607 post September/October, once Windows Server 2016 is out.

@Michael You just install the normal RSAT tool, it was re-released a couple of days ago. :)

I too upgraded and lost my RSAT tools.

I installed the new RSAT tools but it seemed to successfully install really quickly. Now after a reboot I still cannot find my RSAT tools. Has anyone else had the same problem?

It doesn't appear under Add/Remove Features or even installed updates.

Think I'm going to just re-install Windows build 1607. Too much time has been spent on searching online. Need RSAT ASAP

I found it a couple of days ago but forgot to reply here with the solution. I had to install the language pack EN-US first (only had EN-AU installed)... Rebooted... Then RSAT tools installed - a lot slower this time but more importantly, installed successfully! Credit to this website: https://www.stephendonaghy.com/?p=25

I've had to use this method for quite some time now. You don't have to actually set the language as default though, as long as it is installed along with the language pack RSAT will install

You can also uninstall the language pack and language once installed :)

Don't know if this happened to anyone else, but once i upgraded (not clean install) it uninstalled my RSAT tools!

lol, yeah it does that! When I first tried Windows 10 it didnt warn me what it was going to do, it was only afterwards it had uninstalled a load of software such as RSAT! :)

You've always had to do this. The RSAT download page states it quite clearly under under System Requirements. :p

Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 10 is available in the following languages: cs-CZ, de-DE, en-US, es-ES, fr-FR, hu-HU, it-IT, ja-JP, ko-KR, nl-NL, pl-PL, pt-BR, pt-PT, ru-RU, sv-SE, tr-TR, zh-CN, and zh-TW. If the system UI language of your Windows 10 operating system does not match any of the available RSAT languages, you must first install a Windows 10 Language Pack for a language that is supported by RSAT, and then try installing Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 10 again.

The fact that major updates have always removed RSAT doesn't make it acceptable, nor it is acceptable for the RSAT installation to simply close in a couple of seconds without doing anything if a required language pack isn't installed. To not even show an error is unforgivable.

RSAT should be updated as part of the Anniversary Update, and the RSAT installation should at the very least warn you that a required language pack is missing, and maybe even give you the option of installing it. Doesn't seem much to ask, does it?

All windows insider builds remove rsat. For months pre 1607 I had all my devices in fast lane. Towards the end builds were coming in almost daily. So I was having to reinstall rsat every other day.

Annoying but not end of world.
