Try setting delete cached copies of roaming profiles to disabled. That should sort it.

Try installing it using dism. That's the only way I could get it to work. The command you need is below. Run it in a command prompt (as administrator). Dism /online /Add-Package /PackagePath:"\\path\to\lp.cab"

^ This. The option you need can found here. Computer Configuration > Polices > Administrative Templates > System > Logon > Show first sign-in animation. Set it to disabled.

We've had it enabled on the drive that holds our profile for over 6 months now and it's never caused a problem. Go for it.

You're right it can cause issues if you change things directly in WSUS, so it's best to always do most things within SCCM. To select the updates you want do the following. Click the administration tab (bottom left) > Expand site configuration > click sites > right click your site name > configure site components > software update point. You can then choose products to download updates for on the products tab. Hope this helps.

Hi All, We're getting errors backing up one of our servers with DPM 2012 R2 and the error it gives us is Review the failure errors for individual files from the log file \\?\Volume{49f41fea-6262-11e3-80bb-2c768a56b42f}\c85de758-92d3-442c-a764-8689456a5184\FailedFilesLog.txt and take appropriate action. If some files fail consistently, you can exclude the folders containing these files by modifying the protection group or moving the files to another location. Does anyone know how you can actually open the FailedFilesLog.txt file? I've found this on the TechNet forums but when I try to change directory it gives me access denied even when running the command prompt as administrator. It seems a bit pointless for DPM to tell you to check the logs and then not let you access them. Any advice would be appreciated.

You can't use SQL 2012 with SCCM 2007 SP2 unless you upgrade from SQL 2008 or 2008 R2. Configuration Manager 2007 SP2 Supported Configurations But as the others have said you would be much better off with SCCM 2012.

I have given that a go but still get the exact same error message. There didn't seem to be a folder called c:\windows\setupgc but the logs I did find didn't seem to have any errors in them. It's very weird.

Hi All, I'm trying to deploy Windows 7 using SCCM 2012 but after it applies the image and restarts I keep getting the following error when it tries to run the unattend.xml file. Windows could not parse or process the unattend answer file for pass [specialize]. The settings specified in the answer file cannot be applied. The error was detected while processing settings for component [Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup]. The thing is the same .wim image and unattend.xml files work fine when I use WDS and I never get the error, so I have no idea what's going wrong. I think the easiest way to do this would be as follows. 1. Add the new version of the application to SCCM. 2. Go to the properties of the new version and click the supersedence tab. 3. Click add, then browse, and then find the old version of the application. 4. On the drop down for new deployment type select the new version and then click the uninstall checkbox. This will uninstall the old version and then install the new version in its place. Hope this helps.

Hi Joey, I removed those patches off my server but it didn't seem to make any difference. I do have the database on a seperate server though (which does run 2008 R2) and removing the patches from this server fixed the problem. Thanks Matthew

I've been getting the same errors since I ran windows update. The only problem I have is those updates don't appear on my list of installed updates (I don't have any .net framework ones listed). Does anyone know if it's different on server 2012? Thanks

Hi All, I used SCUP 2011 to publish the Adobe reader and flash player updates to SCCM 2012 but did so with the wrong signing certificate. I then changed the certificate to the correct one and published them again but the problem is that now I have two of each sitting in SCCM. I expired the wrong ones in SCUP and then published them again and it said it said it worked but SCCM doesn't mark the update as expired even after a full re-sync. The log file SCUP.log says "Product:'Adobe Flash Player')' is on the update server and is expired, no publish actions are possible.$$" while indicates that the update should be getting marked as expired in SCCM. I marked the correct update as superseeding the wrong version in SCUP and published this and SCCM has marked it as superseeded but it won't expire/remove it. My software update point has been set to immediately expire superseded updates. I also deleted a few of the reader updates from SCUP and tried to use the cleanup tool within SCUP but it says there is nothing to cleanup even though there should be. I have SCCM SP1 running on Server 2012. Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Hi all. We are looking at replacing all of our servers (which are all about 3+ years old) and I was wondering how you would do it? Virtualise everything, SANs, blade or rack servers? What you you put on each server (AD, DNS, DHCP, WSUS, Sims etc). We have 6 servers currently, about 600 kids and 100ish staff. There is no budget for this as I've been asked to find out what it would all cost. So how would you do it?

You can run both 2003 & 2008 DCs at the same time (only at 2003 functional level though).
