Michael Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Is it just me, but how come the new ISO files are smaller overall and why are Pro 1607 ISOs larger than Edu? Windows 10 Edu 1511 x64 = 4022MB Windows 10 Edu 1607 x64 = 3718MB Windows 10 Edu 1511 x86 = 3009MB Windows 10 Edu 1607 x86 = 2788MB Windows 10 Pro 1511 x64 = 4160MB Windows 10 Pro 1607 x64 = 4101MB Windows 10 Pro 1511 x86 = 3109MB Windows 10 Pro 1607 x86 = 3149MB

gshaw Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Has anyone tried the Start Menu GPOs for layout etc. yet? Just about to give it a go - hoping it's finally been fixed in this release.
mavhc Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Last time I looked you had to add powershell to the boot.wim, is that still true? Which start menu gpos?
gshaw Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Which start menu gpos? Set Start Menu layout from XML file on a network share (as opposed to having to do it one-shot at image time)
Michael Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Please keep us posted either way if the Start Menu Layout GPO works!
gshaw Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Please keep us posted either way if the Start Menu Layout GPO works! Just did it and it seems to have worked Didn't keep the resized menu (I shrunk it down a column) but the apps I pinned are there as well as the renamed column heading. XML file is stored in netlogon
Michael Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Were you able to pin Explorer as some people were querying?
gshaw Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Were you able to pin Explorer as some people were querying? Yup had to pin it manually but after a reboot here's the result

Hi Lancia, Where did you get the International version from? Do you mean the 'N' edition? That Techbench site appears to have been shut down. Also they haven't published new language packs on VLSC and the old ones don't work.
mitchell1981 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 I found the language pack so all sorted now: http://download.windowsupdate.com/d/msdownload/update/software/updt/2016/07/lp_a2190659cf7f64115fbee8a06de7bbad719ef6df.cab (x64 Version)
pete Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Has anyone found 1607's a bit flakier than 1511 when initially talking to a 2008R2 WSUS server? WSUS says the client is allegedly at 100% patched, the client gives a error when checking for updates (after the usual few reboots, wuauclt /detectnow and gpupdates). After about half an hour sitting around it eventually sorts itself out and pull updates*. *3rd-party software using WSUS as the repository.
Arthur Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 That Techbench site appears to have been shut down. It's still working for me. I think their servers are quite busy at the moment.

Yes, I've found an issue with MDT and WSUS with updates not installing, it just hangs during deployment. Also had a few issues logging in, got user profile hive issue twice before on the laptops I imaged, it logs you out straight away but you login fine the 2nd time. Also looking at my WSUS server the new laptops I've imaged some have updated OK and others have errors.
