Domo Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 I'm not doing too bad with my Pokemon, it seems some people have insanely high CP Pokemon already though. Also Go team Mystic?
6Foot2 Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 For April Fool's day, 2014: Dozens of wild Pokémon have taken up residence on streets, amidst forests and atop mountains throughout Google Maps. To catch 'em all, grab your Poké Ball and the newest version of Google Maps for iPhone or Android. Then tap the search bar, "press start," and begin your quest. And, follow Google Maps on Google+, Facebook or Twitter for hints and tips for the most dedicated trainers.
arwen Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Team Yellow for me ! (Instinct) I'm also starting to catch cp200+ pokemon regularly.
Sheepy Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Been playing since Friday I would have been on Thursday but I totally messed up my name on the game and couldnt cope so had to wait to sign up once the Pokemon servers would allow.. Have been enjoying all weekend and the Mrs has joined in the game too which is fun Cardiff was rammed with Pokestops and we must have seen around 30 to 50 other people playing
sparkeh Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Nintendo shares soar on Pokemon Go success - BBC News
Garacesh Posted July 11, 2016 Author Posted July 11, 2016 (edited) £5.4b increase. Noice. Shares will start to fall if they can't retain the userbase, though. And with $100 "micro"transactions, that's going to peeve off a lot of people. The game needs a lot more fleshing out if it's going to keep people interested. Edited July 11, 2016 by Garacesh

Garacesh Posted July 11, 2016 Author Posted July 11, 2016 (edited) and is area dependent there isnt a single poke stop/gym within walking distance of my house as far as i can see Possibly, but it also depends on what there is to actually do. For example, there's no way currently to make a pokemon stronger apart from catch and transfer a boatload more of them. I think personally it would be better if you had to battle wild pokemon like you do in the games, and your pokemon passively regenerated health (say, from 1-MAX over the course of 48 hours). I appreciate that they want to keep some pokemon rarer than others, but it just feels like it's too much artificial inflation with the current method. A lot of people may end up quitting because they simply can't get pokemon they like. Then you've got the gyms, which actually I have to admit, I like. I don't see a fault in them per-se, but they could do with being having more substance to them. Maybe give your team some kind of bonus for controlling it in the local area (slightly higher catch rates, or new pokemon or something) Pokestops are just ingress portals that got ported over, which is a shame. I'd like to see them more 'themed', for example, Gyms could be schools/colleges/other places of communal gatherings, rather than just $RandomPortal. A wider variety of locations would be nice too, rather than just spin2win pokestops and gyms. The initial release buzz is going to wear off a lot of people soon and platerbase will rapidly decline if they don't flesh it out more. Edited July 11, 2016 by Garacesh
Sheepy Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 You're not wrong about the playerbase dropping off slightly but that happens with everything... I have been totally surpirsed by the amount of players just out and about but also with my FB friends... It seems to be the current playerbase is just Pokemon old school nerds loving it and jumping on the ship, None of the current players as far as I have seen are younger people... I think as the game will launch on the UK store its going to grow and grow.. Hopefully it will hold out then
arwen Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 So yea, lunctime was a success for me since I found this :-
Garacesh Posted July 11, 2016 Author Posted July 11, 2016 CP760? Ooft. Though, Lick is an awful move, and you only get one charge of Earthquake (I think the blue bar is PP, anyway.)
Domo Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 I used my lunch break to go take a Gym... who needs food huh? (I also got food though )
arwen Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 I only needed to use earthquake once to over run a local gym :-) Stuck my Hypo there for now, will take the other local gym after work and leave either snorlax or porygon there I think. Although I do seem to be collecting jynx too.

Although I do seem to be collecting jynx too. There's a bit of a meme, of sorts, going on with me and one of my housemates.. The phrase "Drowzees for days" (also applicable: "Pidgeys for days"), that's all we seem to be catching round here lol. I do have a varied collection so far, though.. Pidgeotto, Drowzee, Venonat, Kakuna, Eevee, Nidoran(M), Nidoran(F), Caterpie, Magikarp, Rattata, Bellsprout, Squirtle and more.. I think I have about 20 breeds at the moment, but I have no signal so I can't check properly Edited July 11, 2016 by Garacesh
arwen Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Loads of pidgeys, drowzees and zubats around everywhere I think. My work has eevees, weeedles and venonats regularly too. Don't seem to have to travel far to start seeing other pokemon however. Once particular street always seems to have electric and rarer pokemon on it. Caught my porygon there along with magnamite and voltorbs. Saw a pikachu there too but couldn't locate it to capture it.
X-13 Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 (edited) Went for a wander... Pogeymans I couldn't find: Pidgeot Jigglypuff Jynx Cubone Poliwag Pogeymans I could find: Pidgey More Pidgey Rattata Some more Rattata A random Pideotto Also, why is everything here ALWAYS 3 steps away? And LEVEL 5, SON! Le EDIT : I also got 2 2k eggs (one hatched... Rattata) and a 5k egg that glitched and still isn't hatched. Edited July 11, 2016 by X-13
Garacesh Posted July 11, 2016 Author Posted July 11, 2016 (edited) Well I went on a big ol' 2-hour trek (3.7mi/5.9km each way, according to Google Maps.) on Saturday night and the pokémon I encountered didn't change too drastically. I did find a wild Seadra in my local town, and a wild Weepinbell in the next town over (our 3.7mi-away destination) and I did encounter two Eevee's along the way (one of which fled ) and my housemate did find a Jynx, but overall, yeah, the wild pokemon didn't change too much. Edit: @X-13, go catch me a Cubone, NAO!!! I don't care that you can't trade. Get me a Cubone anyway! The footsteps are distance indicators.. More footsteps = further away. Garacesh Posted July 11, 2016 Author Posted July 11, 2016 No. I can't even find one for me. I know the footsteps mean distance, I just want to know why they're ALWAYS really far. Artificial difficulty, I suspect. To stop people staying in one place and catching 'em all.
