Evening All,

A little over two years ago, fellow Edugeekers supported me and the Runner's World competition I entered to run the Paris Marathon. Several of you donated money to a charity called CISS - which was suppprting one of my work colleagues during her times of support.

I come to you now again cap in hand asking for a donation of £1 - no more, no less.

This time, I am training for the Snowdonia Marathon in October. 18 weeks to go and I have no doubt that this will be the toughest marathon I have run. It will be my third. It is one of the toughest - several hills and some years runners go through four seasons in one day.

The charity I am supporting for this run is another one close to our school. It's a Children's charity called 'Elusen Jac Bach Charity' - it is run by the daughter of a Maths teacher in our school and was setup when she lost a child (a twin). It's a sad story and can be read here.

So I ask - if anyone wants to support then please do. Just £1, maybe £3 if you fancy missing that pint, but £1 is enough. I'm sure Edugeekers could help me reach my target of £500 and possibly beat it.

If you don't want to support, or think my asking is offensive then please pass this post by.

I am blogging about my training here: The Running Geek and my donation page is here: http://make-a-donation.org/fundraisers/gareth-edmondson

Thank you for your time.

Thanks guys. Whoever donated £10 - thank you.

@elsiegee40 - thank you.

Your help is appreciated and it's worth it to see me in pain on those Snowdonia hills.

Keep reading the blog for updates.

Come on guys - it's a £1 and 5 mins of your time.

You guys are legends.

I won't bump this every week - but if you are happy and you know it - don't clap your hands, donate a £1. I guarantee you will feel amazing after you do it - especially if you also claim gift aid.

Can't you do it through Paypal? I've not checked. Sorry if not. I am using the page the Charity asked me to. I usually use JustGiving but not this time.

As we break up for the Summer holidays, I'm going to be cheeky and bump this post to the top of the list again (it's been a while). Thank you to the Edugeekers that have donated. You are amazing people.

All I'm asking for is £1 to help the jacbach.com charity - helping families by raising money for children that need life changing treatments. Not a huge charity but one that does a lot of work and was setup in memory of a colleagues Grandson.

My donation page is : here

However, some have noted that there isn't a Paypal option. If you would rather this then get in touch and will give you my Paypal address. I assure you all monies will get transferred to the charity.

If you are not sure what I will be running - well it's the Snowdonia Marathon. One of the toughest in the UK. To give an idea, here is the profile.

So of these kids that the charity helps might never walk, might never run without operations to help them - Hopefully you have it in your hearts to help me through the pain of running these mountains - which is nothing to the pains these children and their families go through.

If every Geeker gave £1 we could change lives. This isn't Comic Relief or other massive charities that raise millions. This is a small local one. Read the site.

On a lighter note - if you want to read about my training feel free to comment and send encouragement here: The Running Geek

Thank you everyone for reading this and for putting up with my begging. Have a great Summer holidays.

Thought I'd pop in after some weeks off thinking about tech and trying to relax. Training for the Snowdonia Marathon is going well. Past 5/6 weeks have been quite intense and as I reach the end of week 6 I am a bit empty in the legs so am taking the day off tomorrow before running a 14 miler on Sunday. Otherwise things are going well. I was away for two weeks in the caravan with the family but managed to train quite a bit - in the heat.

So I am getting there and with your support it makes it a lot easier.

Come on. Give me a £1.

Hope everyone is well.

Training is going well. Nearly there now - 5/6 weeks to go and final 20 mile prep run is on the way. I ran 18 miles on Satuday and it went very well - just under 3 hours so that's just under 60 mins per 10k which I am happy with.

I've changed my diet to be more healthy. No beer, a takeaway as a treat on a Saturday only. I took some advice from a nutritionist. It seems to be working as I've shed a stone and am not aching after my long runs (touch wood).

Anyway - thanks to everyone who has donated. Thanks to two companies on here that also donated (Millgate and ICT Direct). Very generous.

Remember I am running one of the toughest marathons in the UK to help sick children have a better quality and chance at life. The donations really do spur me on and keep spirits high - especially when running stupid distances in bad weather. Donations from here have helped.

Please give £1 (link is in the top post).

Thank you

Just thought I'd pop in the day after my final long run - 20 miles yesterday in the bag in just over 3 hours. Looking good for a sub 4:30 marathon - but it may be Sub 5 as I've not run this course before. The wind down starts now.

My body has totally changed due to the new diet I am following and I'm getting close to the same weight that I ran Paris in 2014. This diet is made up of all the superfoods. It must be working as I do not ache as much after the runs - plenty of recovery protein in my food.

I've also been following the Kinetic Revolution series of stretches which does help. Foam rolling is also part of my routing.

Fund raising has ground to a halt due to lack of time so here is the link again.... Please donate £1 if you can. It's not a lot.

If you would rather the safety of Paypal - then DM me and I will send you my Paypal address before transferring the money over to the charity site.

Come on - pay to watch me struggle up the mountains... first 5 miles is uphill.

Evening all - just under two weeks to go so my final attempt at drumming up some charity money for the Snowdonia Marathon. I passed through the target yesterday and am now at 116% of my main aim which was £500 - so thank you to everyone that has donated. You are very generous people with your time and charity. Thank you. There are three of us running for the same charity so all together we will have raised just over £1K when added together. That figure is made possible by people willing to help.

Again - thank you.

If anyone hasn't donated but just wants to give £1 then please consider it. Edugeek has many thousands of users - if everyone gave £1 just think of the lives we could change.

When I get my number and tracking information for 29th October I will put it up here so you can laugh/encourage or whatever at the time I'm going for.

If you are a runner and interested in what I am doing and my training - The Running Geek is my blog. Read it, comment and send me some encouragement.

Thanks everyone - you are all amazing.

Cheers @DJ-1701

I arrived in North Wales on Monday afternoon. Drove some of the course today as well. OMG.

Thanks everyone for the support and donations.

There is not much signal here. I''m current sat outside the campsite toilets using someone's BT wifi as I refuse to pay inflated prices for the site wifi.

So I shall see everyone on the other side.

Thank you.
