Our school are currently in the process of changing our way of reporting for next year

They want reports not featuring data as such, just attitude to learning gradings 1-4........but colours.

I can't for the life of me work out how to get any colours transferred from our templates on SIMS, onto the word template on individual reports

Is it even possible?

Do you want the numbers 1-4 to show with a coloured background in a table? If you have the result links on the template and have ticked the 'Print Report with Colour' in the Individual Report Details, then it should work.

We would prefer the colour to show with a blank box...is it possible?

And for people with any of the variety of different possible sight issues or colour blindness? I could include both sets of data points personally.

Technically no, if the box is blank then how does it know what colour to use?

But you could work around this by making it appear blank - use the same font colour as the background colour :)

We use conditional formatting on our reports; depending on the grade achieved the results boxes are coloured red, amber, green or cyan (cyan = meeting aspirational target). SIMS produces them in XML format (which is often referred to by our Admin staff as "Word" because they are opened in Word). We convert them to PDF before storing them back in SIMS to ensure viewing by the parent portal is quicker.

is this possible on individual reports? without having to change each individual box to match the background?

Is this what you'd like to do?

Yes Kathabell :) SMT apparently aren't wanting to show grades next year, just give an indication of progress so the section that's coloured on yours is exactly what I need haha

OK PM me your email address and I'll get our exams/assessment officer to send you a copy of our template as a sample - no point in reinventing the wheel :)

Oops, just tested this, you can only set the background colour in SIMS, so scrap this idea.

Would setting all the gradeset descriptions to a fullstop and using result descriptions in the individual report formatted to 1 point do it?

Hi

I saw your post and was wondering whether you could help? Our individual report grades have changed so am not sure how to achieve the colours on an individual report - I've "Improving" green etc?

Hi there,

I was hoping you might be able to help. I have just read your post regarding adding colour to an individual report produced by SIMs using conditional formatting. SLT would like us to make certain cells red within pupil reports. Our individual reports are XML but are actually word documents, and we are struggling with how to apply conditional formatting to cells within a document like this. Do you have any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
