paulvernon63 Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Has anyone begun experiencing a problem with Accelerated Reader web-site where the pages have stopped displaying properly? The box around "I am a Student" and "I am a Teacher/Administrator" are not there. It seems one can still log in but the format of the next page is wrong. Accessing Accelerated Reader after logging in shows a blank screen. These issues are only there when logged in as a student, staff logins show the page correctly. It looks very much like a compatibility issue but adding the page to compatibility doesn't make any difference. Windows 7, IE 11 but the same thing happens with Chrome. Whilst I realise this could be a login script sort of issue / registry entry could anyone indicate what might be causing it so I can check our rather convoluted scripts? We've only seen this in the past week or so. Thanks, Paul.
mikeprice Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Just checked it on our system and it works fine - I had a problem when we first set it up and they said to only use Chrome (I was using Firefox which is apparently a problem). I have just updated Chrome and it still works - they also said not to use IE is possible I assume you have checked if anything has updated recently (ACtiveX .net etc) anyway - thanks for posting just in case I get the same problem in the future!
Guest WMITTech Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 We had this problem and end up using google chrome
dapaulio Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 We use ie and not had a problem. I remember kicking up a sh!t storm though with them because I wasn't prepared to take use chrome instead excuse. Told them it was lazy to not develop their software with the updates with ie. Make sure you haven't got renaissance learning domain stored in compatibility mode list. They use to say compatibility mode is the only work around. Then they updated the site which broke viewing it compatible mode.
jcs808 Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 We have intermittent issues with AR, usually part way through a quiz a student will move on to the next question and only part of the page will display or a complete "this page cannot be displayed" browser screen. Not had any luck with their tech support other than it must be a fault our end response.
paulvernon63 Posted June 24, 2016 Author Posted June 24, 2016 We've eventually ascertained that our web filter, BLOXX, was blocking a url; z11resources.renlearnrp.com, which we needed to allow in order to regain full functionality of Accelerated Reader. We did suspect there was something untoward in BLOXX but had also been looking into SSL3.0 and TLS1.1 / 1.2 which, when set alternately, allowed and did not allow access via our unfiltered proxy but this did not help us solve the issue via our filtered proxy. This was definitely working up until a week or so ago so something was added to either the web-page, security or to BLOXX which stopped Accelerated Reader from working until we found the fix. Incidentally it was BLOXX and not Renaissance Learning who provided us with the fix. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. Paul. 1

Thanks - good to document it so if one of us gets this we can find a solution
Obee1 Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Hi guys, We were experiencing this issue at almost the same time as you guys. We have a proxy server and initially thought that it was something to do with that as there seemed to be some performance issues with the site, so added it to the exclusion list. Checked the web filter wasn't blocking traffic. Spoke to Renaissance and got their documentation of sub domains etc which needed to also be unfiltered. Nothing seemed to make a difference. Issues were very inconsistent ie different users, different machines, different times of the day etc etc. Eventually the issues just resolved themselves. We did lots with profiles, clearing internet history, clearing cache on the DNS and web filter, as Renaissance claimed everything was hunky doory their end. As I say eventually after a week or so the issues just disappeared. It would seem that I was not the only one having these issues and it coincides with your timing. This thread seemed to go very quiet with no real answer. Did your issues also resolve themselves? Today I have had a report of similar issues. Anyone else having issues??
