Handheld Mobile Camcorders

Looking for some ideas for our Pe department.

 

They would like some hand held mobile camcorders (like the old flipcams)

 

Does anyone have any ideas? (need 5 and max spend is £300)

In the days of tablets and mobile phones?

A cheap Android smartphone or 7" tablet would fall under budget for 5 and still provide HD or better recording. Plus maybe you could make use of them for other things like mobile SIMS registration which is always tricky for PE staff

Each pe member of staff does have an ipad. but they want small handheld camcorders, I was thinking small digital cams that has video mode on them

If you search for "Daretang" on Amazon you'll get various models, plus there's a couple of other very similar brands. You might actually just about be able to get the lowest-price GoPro in your budget if you find them on offer.

Indeed - looks like we both had the same idea within 3 minutes of each other :-) These cameras look remarkably like the GoPro, I don't know if the same factory is simply turning out their own brand from the same production line - of course, the firmware might well be rather different, which could affect the quality of the images you'll get from the hardware.

You can mount them on a cheap (£5-ish) foam grip handle, turning them into handy cameras:

Those don't have a screen on the back, which might be an important feature if people are wanting to use them as a camcorder.
