Geoff Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 I have just took delivery of some HP 250 G4 laptops and have an odd issue I've not seen before. When the machine is off, the battery slowly drains. I have rebuilt on delivery these machines using our standard Windows 10 LTSB Enterprise image. Things I have tried: - UFEI BIOS Firmware Update - Intel chipset / MEI / Thermal Framework driver update - Disable Hibernation / Sleep / Fast Boot power options Any suggestions?
GuyJD Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 No suggestions I'm afraid but I have noticed the same with my 250 G4
mikkydoos Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Try this. Its the ACPI driver that isn't available for download from HP's (pathetic) support site. Its for Win 7 but might work. Have you got an unknown device in the device manager? If so, its the power management. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/psg/attachments/psg/Hardware/329359/1/475790_intl_x64_zip.zip Or find the same for Win 10
Geoff Posted June 9, 2016 Author Posted June 9, 2016 I've got a spare machine (one was DOA and this is it's replacement). So I've done a clean Win10 LTSB Enterprise install from DVD and hooked it up to the internet and let it update it's drivers and stuff from Windows update. It detected everything fine. I don't have any unknown devices. The driver versions are newer than what was on the OEM HP image, so I'll leave it turned off overnight and see if it drains it's battery. Failing that I'll grab the latest HP drivers and see if they help.
LeMarchand Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Hmmmm I was surprised at the drain on a batch I had, but put it down to not being charged for long and then stored for a week until they were issued. Will have to play with one of the spares...
Zourous Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 Does anyone get the "limited connectivity" frequently on this model of laptop? It seems intermittent and only a reinstall of the driver (not great) seems to solve it. Some of our 250 G4's have Broadcom wifi and others have Realtek so not sure I can even blame the wifi cards. For the record we are running W10 64bit.
mikkydoos Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 Just for the record, I have loads of these running Win 7 x64.... mix of Realtek and Broadcom. No problems reported whatsoever in months/years. I'd be looking at Windows. 1

mikkydoos Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 Here it is.... https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/2920188/update-to-add-support-for-tpm-2-0-in-windows-7-and-windows-server-2008 On Win 7 you'll get an unknown device in device manager. Its for Trusted Platform Module 2.0. The 'driver' is MS hotfix KB2920188 1
arh1a Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 Different model but I notice the same with the HP ProBook 430 G4 Windows 10 Pro x64 1803
