Appears the US get all the perks, nice easy prepaid recycling service to APC themselves....whereas doesn't look like we get any of that joy in the UK. What do you guys do for battery recycling?

One company have quoted us £50 per battery, which seems a hell of a lot (trying to clarify if that's for each bank of batteries or each individual battery, if it's each individual one then that would cost us upwards of £500!)

We usually send them off with our IT recycling company as they'll take batteries, projector bulbs etc all to be disposed of properly.

I've had to replace 2 APC UPS batteries recently, gave Schneider Electric tech support number a call asked for a returns collection and it was booked straight away, FedEx come and collect them within a couple of days. All they ask for is the Model and Serial numbers of the UPS in question.

That easy? No fuss, no cost? I shall do just that!

Charging to collect waste lead acid batteries? That's a new trick. They're not worth what they were, but they still have value so that's ridiculous.

Yup, it's well buried on their UK site, where the US site is all self-service.

The first time I did a return they suggested just taking it to my local recyclers, I told them we didn't have anything like that so they went ahead and organised the collection.
