disable search in start menu Windows7

We are a secondery school and need to remove search from windows 7 start menu. pupils can type c$ into it and access the shorcuts for all the programs on the c drive including mstsc and powershell. I have already enabled the GPO setting Remove Search Link form Start menu and confirmed it is being applied and changed the Registry key NoFind as it should but the search box is still there. If you try this in the windows explorer search box it only finds their own items.

 

The pupils desktop is locked down so they can only get the required shortcuts in their start menu but this bypasses it so its one we need to get sorted.

User Configuration\Administrative Templates\start menu and Taskbar\

Remove See More Results / Search Everywhere link

User Configuration>Administrative Templates>Start Menu and Task Bar>Remove Run menu from Start Menu

 

This removes the privilege to type UNC paths, or anything in the search bar and file explorer bar
