NEC M230X stuck in Standby/Powersaving mode
Ripleys replied to Ripleys's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
I did not. In the end I had to downgrade the board/projector with a Sanyo XE40. I did ring NEC about it but all they said is "send it to us" which we do not have the green to do. -
NEC M230X stuck in Standby/Powersaving mode
Ripleys replied to Ripleys's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
Hi Chris, This didn't work. I believe it's because it is stuck in power saving mode. Such a useless feature. I don't know who enabled it or why they did. -
Hi Guys, I have a very odd problem and I am unable to resolve it. We have an NEC M230X projector in one of our classrooms. According to the manual it is stuck in standby/power saving mode. I have tried plugging into the PC Control port, however, the projector cannot be recognised because it is in standby/power saving mode. I have tried connecting the VGA into Computer 1 IN and reboot the computer to send signals to the projector. This does not work either. Why have this feature if nothing can be done to turn it back on. Is there anyway I can factory reset this projector without having to turn it on? Cheers

Hi folks, I know this is probably a long shot to get answers for Koha here, but I am having trouble getting the correct barcode (and other biblio) information to appear on the label generator. Barcodes (EAN13) just show up as 00000000 and no biblio information displays at all, no matter what I select. I have tried adding the MARC values rather than the "barcode" or "isbn" fields etc. Anyone have any idea why it might not be working? Cheers

Hi Folks, On our tenant, I have enabled several Licenses to our staff. All products appear on the homescreen of our users apart from Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneDrive. I am still able to access these by googling "Word Online" or "Onedrive for business", which I don't really want my users doing. Is there any reason why they don't appear on the homescreen? Cheers

Hi Guys Pretty much what the title says. I have just created an office 365 subscription and would like to bump us from the A5 trial to the A1 (free) model. However, both global administrator and billing administrator accounts have no permission to make purchases. What gives? Do I need to add a payment method first or something? Any advice would be great. Cheers

I wasn’t sure because once we move off of the council email it’ll just be deleted shortly after. Cheers for the reply

Morning Guys, I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I have set up office 365 / Azure AD on virtual servers with my own TLD in the past. It went pretty smoothly. However, my school is now moving away from council O365 to our own TLD O365. I am on the Office 365 for education set up page where it asks for Country, Name, School Email, Number, School Name and Size. What do I put down for the school email address, if what I am I am trying to accomplish is essentially, making school email addresses. What is the process after filling this information out? Any insight would be much appreciated. Cheers

I had a similar issue where my workstations could find printers but wouldn't install them over GPO. The print server had an update that changed the way my print drivers were packaged. I had to reg hack each driver to trick the server into thinking that the print drivers were packaged.

Morning Folks, Sorry for the badly worded title but here goes. We bought 3 bulbs from a well known retailer a few weeks back for spares. Recently we have had to use these bulbs in our projectors. Once we placed the bulbs in the projectors and powered them on nothing happened for about 30 seconds, then they went into "shutdown/cooldown" phase. Upon closer inspection of the old and new bulbs, two of the three new bulbs have been wired incorrectly (pos to pos & neg to neg) I believe this has caused the projectors to crap out on us now. I have tried putting the bulb that is wired correctly into these projectors and it does the same "boot up > 30 seconds > shutdown/cooldown". Upon contacting their customer support they have said they will take the bulbs back as well as our projectors to verify that this is what has caused the projectors to die. Is there anything I can do to verify myself that they are completely knackered? Maybe some sort of power cycle on them or...? I don't really want to be opening up the chassis because they could turn around and say that it's something I have done. Cheers guys

Morning Folks, I am having an issue with some of our pupils roaming profiles. I have a GP in place to "replace" shared printers to pupils depending on the workstations they log on to (classroom(OU)). For the most part it appears to work however, we do have the occassional pupil popping up with printers from, art, business etc. I tell them to log off and back in again and that also seems to work. But I still get a teacher every now and then bringing print outs from different classrooms. I have a Delete all shared printers at the beginning of my preferences along with unmapping all ports. My replace printers have "remove if not applied" ticked too. Is there anything else I am missing? Cheers

Print Mgmt / GPO Comp Pref Clarification
Ripleys replied to Ripleys's topic in Windows Server 2008 R2
I believe I may have solved it. At first I had Computer Preference / TCP/IP Printer which was using default port settings. I changed the whole thing to Local Printer and added the printer share as the Port. Print jobs now show up in the Print Management Console. Am I right in assuming that the fact it was using TCP/IP that it just completely bypasses the server? Whereas with using the printershare as the port it's going to the server first? -
Hi Folks, I'm looking for some clarification here. I'm looking into tidying/revamping how our IP printers function. Going back a while now, the way IP printers were installed on to our PCs we're done manually. Add Printer > IP > target drivers from network share. I have added all printers into one of our servers Print Management consoles. I have also added the network printers into our DNS records. All printers have been set up to go through the server rather than printing directly to the printer. I have GPO Computer Preferences set up to install TCP/IP printers (tried both using DNS and IPv4 address) to the computers within the classrooms. Appears to be working fine so far. Now, I try and perform various test prints and test documents to the printers; they print, but when I check the Printers Job Queue on Print Mgmt Console there is nothing appearing. I feel as though I have cocked up somewhere here. I thinking it could be down to ports??? Trying to search online gives me tuts on how to set them up either through Print Management using Policy based or GPO using preference based. I can write up a set by step of what I've done if it'll help pin point where I messed up. Cheers

Sorry, I should have mentioned this in my OP. At the moment around 34 projectors are Sanyo XE40s. We pay around £50-£70 for compatible bulbs which are pretty hit and miss. We have actually had to purchase a replacement (upgraded) projector and adapter to fit the arm of the interactive whiteboard. £600 roughly in total for the projector and adapter. This is something we just cannot afford to do willy nilly. Also to add those are around 50% of our projectors. The other are various other Sanyo's and mixtures of Hitachi's, Epson, NEC, Acer and Mitsubishi.... mostly Sanyo's though

Morning Guys, We are going through that time of the year where bulbs are on constant order because they're dying on us. Right now, we look towards the likes of ebay to purchase our replacement bulbs. Sometimes the prices skyrocket, depending on the projector. My question is, is there any sites/services available where you can pay a set price and get bulbs on some sort of speedy delivery? Do you spend hours browsing through ebay/amazon for a cheap deal like me? What are your go-to websites for reasonably price bulbs? Any help and/or advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks for the links Lonix, I will be reading over these today. I actually just updated my "IT" CV last night to flesh my recent projects / experiences. Zag, one thing I was worrying about (other than possibly losing/reapplying for my job) was money. The School is on a tight budget as it is and can only imagine it being the same if not, worse after the change over. Snagrat, I believe are only converting to an Academy.
-
Good Afternoon Folks, The School where I work at is going to turn into an Academy some time after the summer holidays. All the staff/management are all yapping on about the changes are going to go ahead and I am wondering why no one has came to us about any changes to IT. We use the council for Internet, Proxy and Emails. Is there anyone here who has gone through the academisation process? What was it like? What needed to be done in order for things to go smoothly? What was the time frame for change? Any help and advice would be much appreciated. EDIT: Sorry, I should point out that I didn't know where to put this post, so sorry if it is in the wrong place.

Thanks man. Will try this out.

So I could just temp disable the account now and no PCs would be affected? Because that, to me, sounds like a better option for me now.

User Configuration>Administrative Templates>Start Menu and Task Bar>Remove Run menu from Start Menu This removes the privilege to type UNC paths, or anything in the search bar and file explorer bar

Hi guys. Basically we have an account that we use to join our computers to the domain. We haven't made any changes to it at all. If I were to delegate control to this account, would anything happen the PCs that have joined the domain with this account. Is there anyway to stop it from been logged on with but still be used to perform only this task. Or would be better to make a new account from scratch with delegated controls and start phasing the old account out over time? Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers
