garethEds Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Bit random but I've been asked by my deputy head to find the installer for NovaT4. He knows that T6 is there but prefers to work in T4 - years of working using that. I do not have the installer - can anyone help? He has had a new laptop so needs to re-install. Cheers Gareth
spanky Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Its been awhile so forgive me if it isn't there anymore... there used to be a NOVA T4 installer/exe in the SIMs Setups folder.... I had a school who used to have a shortcut to Nova T4 on their desktops for awhile as they didn't like T6 in the end the decision was to delete this so they had to use T6 (must admit I preferred T4 for a long while after T6 came out)
Linfit Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Nova T4 lived in the SIMS\SNOVA folder on the server. You may find the .exe in there - I think in the NOVA4 folder, if your server is old enough to contain the relics of previous versions. Ours is fairly new so the folder. although it exists is empty. I'm not sure there ever was a satellite installer for it in SIMS\Setups - think that was for T6. May be wrong though.
garethEds Posted May 24, 2016 Author Posted May 24, 2016 Thanks everyone. I'll take a look in the morning.
RootsSchImp Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 If you go for this I would check that you can still export from T4 into sims right off the bat. I wouldnt be surprised if you couldn't, what with T4 being about a decade in the bin. Last thing you want is for this guy to do it in T4 and then have to manually copy it into the twenty first century, especially if, god forbid, his pony gets sick and he can't drive his trap to school.
Gonk Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Thanks everyone. I'll take a look in the morning. Morning - If you dont have any luck, PM me and I'll get the files over to you.
minimoo Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Sims definitely don't support importing from Nova-T4 anymore - or does the guy do the timetable in Nova-t4 then 'type it up' into 6? We were quite 'slow' to move to Nt6 - we never used modelling and construction, and for the first few years we used NT6 then exported to NT4 to problem solve. Looking back - last time we did that was July 2012!! Gareth: I really think you probably need to be using NT6 to export to sims and probably using it for the construction also by now ;/
Homer Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 My previous school moved to NT6 probably around 2011-2012 as well, NT4 was retired before then and probably shouldn't have been used back then let alone today Tread with caution friend, it sounds like a recipe for wasted time or botched imports. That said, I could never understand NT6 on the rare occasion I opened it up to look inside it.
saggu Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 I would second minimoo. NT6 can be exported to SIMS. I got the installer form Capita. You also need the licence no.
data_guy Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 I think it may be time to look at NT6. NT4 has not been supported for many years. The functionality of T6 is much better. For a seasoned T4 user the change doesn't take that long.
