What email etc? Most likely things that spring to mind. Are they OneDrive/iCloud attachments? Rather than Email attachments?

We are under SWGfL ISP and staff with iPads complain that through the iPad mail attachments refuse to open. Everything else seems to work fine. Any thoughts please?

Are you using pages document format? If you're using O365 and pages file format, O365 doesn't like it and will create a mail attachment file where you just need to open the file rather than download it.

Let me know what the staff are using to access emails and what they're sending from iPads and receiving from other schools etc.

Thanks @Steve21 and @aarongulley for your replies. It's theiPad's built in Mail App - although the mail is showing in school my thinking is that the answer is probably down to SWGfL filtering blocking the e-mail accounts?

Hi speckytecky, what are they sending e.g. which type of document? SWGfL will not be blocking your emails unless you use their EasyMail.

Out of interest, are these iCloud email accounts and have you requested the ports to be open?

When the Primary was on SWGfL, I had a fun time getting a whole series of ports open for the iPads. I do believe they have made the process easier now with a standardised change request form on ESI for the ports Apple and iCloud use.

We are on SWGfL and have this issue too. We're using Google Apps for Education. Users couldn't do the imap sync (or send via smtp) from the native iPad and iPhone mail apps, but the Gmail app works just fine.

I think this has something to do with the fact that pretty much the only ports SWGfL DON'T block is 443 and 80. IMAP tends to use 993 or 143. Try contacting the service desk to get it unfiltered on your connection?
