Aruba 105 problem Help Please

Hi

 

This is the aruba point I have ever configured we already have 8 points and they are working fine wanted to add another point to the controller. the master controller cannot see the access point and this is the error message that I am getting was just wondering if anyone could help and how I can get it booted up and talking to the virtual controller so that I can configure it. Any help would be great. I have also changed the ips and dns records of this script I have printed below.

Does an existing AP work on the uplink you are using? If it does, then I would say there is a good chance you have a faulty AP. Some trouble shooting suggestions here:

Have you given it a reservation? because the network config is all wrong. 192.168.0.0 is the subnet address with /21 mask, but above you have the ip,gateway and dns all using it.

 

As long as you have the aruba-master dns entry pointing at your controller, the AP will connect back to the controller using a GRE tunnel. No need to do anything else.

I have reservations set and that is all correct and the dans is set and the aruba master is set to the virtual controller in DNS. it grabs the ip that i have told it to grab but then when i try to ping it i get nothing, even when connected to the Cli of the access point i cannot ping something that is alive it will return it is not alive when i know that it is. is it worth me download the firmware and aruba OS stand and seeing if that solves it or should it pull the aruba os on the virtual controller?

When we have configured them in the past we have found that you need to make sure that all aruba instants are running the same firmware version - either upgrade old ones or downgrade new one.

Also, the new Instant needs to be on the same switch as whichever AP has taken the role of the controller.

We usually let it grab a dhcp address until all joined up together and then make a specific reservation.

this is my problem because the school that we have taken over has aruba we have ruckus i cannot find the firmware anywhere for the one access point that we need to join to the others to download it or down grade it. When the access point boots up it comes up with Checking image @ 0xbf100000, Invalid image format version: 0xffffffff. Is this normal or not?

update your old ones first

 

not sure where you see that error - is it in the web interface?

it is via the Cli that i have connected via the console connection and i have tried to download the firmware and register for aruba they said i got to get a support contract for one access point, plus that might not even fix it?

Are you sure you have an IAP-105? If you are running an instant AP infrastructure, with virtual controller, you can only add other instant APs. If you have got an AP-105, then this will only work with a controller.

The model number is AP-105 that is what it says on the back anyway if it is a IAP does it say IAP-105 instead??

It will be on the back of the AP. If it doesn't say IAP, then it's not going to work.

okay will check the other ones tomorrow?, Is there anyway of booting it up in standard alone mode as it doesn't boot or does it require the controller to download the OS or could i install the OS manually and boot it up that way? Edited May 19, 2016 by nathan3388

Unfortunately it will only work with a controller.
