Hi All,

We have recently migrated to hosted Sims from Serco Facility. Only a few of our users actually use the RDP connection to the Full Sims interface and the rest all use hosted SLG to complete registers etc. We are having an issue where the users using the RDP session to the full Sims client seem to be disconnected and they have to log off etc. to get back in again. Has anybody else who uses Hosted Sims experienced this issue? We are starting to think that it may be down to a filtering issue with our Smoothwall but investigating the traffic logs when this happens doesn't show anything which would cause issue.

TIA

We don't seem to have any issues in our office but we are all unfiltered through the Smoothwall, which is what lead to to believe filtering could be an issue but we don't use Sims anywhere near as much as some of the other staff so it may be that we just don't experience the issue as we aren't on there long enough.

Who hosts it - is it an LA or Capita?

We had a couple of schools using Capita who had an issue at the back end of last week but it seemed it was resolved pretty quick.

Anything showing in the Smoothwall logs?

Have you created an allow rule to the various IP's they could be using for RDP? If its a cluster it could be 1 IP that is causing the problem.

I have never been involved in the hosted solution, but do you use a Open VPN - if you do, its worth checking if the service is still running when the connection drops out. Capita had an issue with this with their hosted Learning Gateway some time back.
