levans Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Hello We've rolled out papercut across our network, but have found issues in our Mac suite. Printers show as "paused" when documents are sent, and we can't seem to release them. We're running OS X 10.9. Has anyone here come across this before?

Installation of PaperCut was carried out by an external contractor who had set it up in the time honoured way they'd always set things up - namely for Windows. They did not realise or bothered to find out (take your pick) that the default PPD (page description language) for Macs is PostScript. Setting up a PostScript Printer Queues on the PaperCut Server fixed the 'problem'. Might be something you've already tried but it's worth checking. Hopefully this might help? Antonio Rocco (ACSA) 1

Configuring a Macintosh secondary print server Thats how to do it. I find Mac printing flakey at the best of times. Wait till you set up Ipad printing.... its so flippin rubbish.
MatthewL Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Are you using accounts within PaperCut, if a job doesnt have an account code selected it will be shown as paused and then it will delete after x minutes.

My accounts are synchronised with AD. And you can set up local account in PaperCut. Theres a client program that relates the logged in user to the account on the print server. No client, no job. There is a job timeout setting in there too that deletes jobs that havent been retrieved from an MFP. Mines 2 days - for weekend VPN printing. Ipads / Android are a bit different. Theres an app to install which you must log into before you print. That way it can allocate the accounting deduction from the appropriate user. Otherwise the job isnt processed at all.
