Which are your standard softwares?

So I'm updating out group policies and it has got me wondering.

 

What do you install as standard on All machines / staff machines / students machines?

As per standard at the Primary the machines get:

 

VLC (Well, I plan to soon)

Sophos

Microsoft Office (As we have EES licensing)

Chrome

Adobe Reader (though using the Edge App in Windows 10)

Adobe Flash (though not with Windows 10 due to this being under Windows Updates)

 

The teacher machines get SmartBoard.

 

The teacher and class machines get any site licensed software.

Our basic senior school image contains:

 

Office 2013

Chrome

Adobe Reader

Adobe Flash

Java

SCCM Client / SCEP

 

Most offices just have that - there HR/Bursary also have some financing software

 

Teacher machines also get Smartboard software and Airsever

 

ICT suites gets their primary piece of software install locally (Sibelius + Cubase for Music, Photoshop for Art, Virtualbox for ICT, Corel and Solidworks for DT etc) but almost all of it is available to any computer via RemotAapp

 

The Prep/Primary school office computers get the same as the senior school but al of the other computers have every bit of software that might be used installed locally and they have an awful lot of it. It's something we hope to change but we aren't there yet

Licences permitting, every PC has every piece of software installed in the base build. Just seemed easier that way, quicker too, as we didn't need multiple base images. Also allows lessons to be unexpectedly relocated if their normal room isn't available for whatever reason.

7Zip, anti virus, flash player, Chrome (MSI file) or Firefox depending on customer, office suite, pdf reader, VLC, any remote support tools such as VNC etc and any updates.

Foxit doesn't work with XFA forms does it?

Other than the usual things already mentioned here...

 

• USB Drive Letter Manager. If you rely on mapped drive letters, this prevents USB devices from taking them. It's normally a paid product, but the nice guy has made it free for education.
  
• OpenDyslexic font. Dyslexia is way more common than you would think!
  
• Google Earth. Still better than the browser-based version.
  
• Windows Essentials (2012)--just Photo Gallery and Movie Maker. The video editor is probably the best free one available for Windows.
