User Profiles

Morning,

Doing some housekeeping and I'm wanting to move where staff user profiles are currently stored and also rename them, so they line up with the new usernames I've just given everyone (so they all fit the same format).

 

When I've tried with a test user to move their profile, windows hasn't liked it and is logging on with a temporary profile.

 

What I did was:

Take ownership of profile, move profile, rename profile to new AD name with a suffix of .V2, grant permissions for user.

 

 

Ideas?

Have you changed the profile path in the AD user too?

Yep, did that.

Changed it to \\newpathgoeshere\staff\profiles\%username%

 

But nope...!

Not sure it'll accept a wildcard (unless you're wildcarding that for the forum). If you want to do them in bulk, you can use something like ADModify.NET.

Tried a couple of different methods. Using %username% / %username%.V2 / JBloggs / JBloggs.V2

 

None of which pick it up properly!

In the profile path field, you'll need to put \\servername\share\Jbloggs\Jbloggs.v2

Have you tried setting the user back as the owner of the profile?

I found going through the first method helped alot with moving/renaming roaming profile folders, that resulted in temp profile issues.
