Link: Inside one of Essex's most haunted locations where people 'burst into tears' and 'want to kill' [Essex Live]

It has stood derelict since 1924 - but spirits are believed to remain

With stories of tears, screams and a chilling past, it's a haunted location like few others.

Cash's Well, located in Langdon Hills country park, has stood derelict and abandoned since 1924 when it was taken out of use, but spirits are believed to still haunt the area.

Essex Ghost Hunters, who have been performing ghost investigations at locations across the county for ten years, believe the well is one of the most haunted they've visited.

Our reporter Elliot Hawkins went to explore the water well known to make people 'burst into tears', and even have 'homicidal thoughts'.

We weren't alone in the woods...

Not a ghost story, more a scary (and unsettling) recollection from the childhood of Grady Hendrix:

Link: Pictured: Mum claims 'ghost' photobombed family on trip to Birmingham cinema [birmingham Mail]

Is the face of a ghost haunting a Birmingham cinema?

One mum certainly thinks so after capturing a shadowy figure photo-bombing a selfie.

The 43-year-old mother took her daughter and nephew to Empire Cinema, on Birmingham Road, Sutton Coldfield, when she took the spooky image.

It was not until days later that she noticed a mysterious figure sat behind them in the snap.

The spooky soul seems to be wearing goggles and is looking down at the camera with his hands clasped before him.

What is more intriguing is that there are no seats where the man is supposed to be sat - only a space for people to exit...

Link: Ghost hunter warns Poundland's £1 Ouija boards 'could unleash deadly demons' [The Mirror]

0_Paul-Marsters-2.jpg

A paranormal investigator has slammed Poundland for selling Ouija boards as part of its Halloween products.

Paul Marsters has warned that deadly demons could be released by the boards if they are in the hands of anyone but mediums.

Paul, who is a member of True Paranormal Events UK, said he was "gobsmacked" when he saw the spirit board on sale for £1 in his local budget store, Hull Live reports.

He said: "Ouija boards are most certainly not a toy and should not be available for kids to buy in pound shops for Halloween - never mind adults that are not trained in how to use them.

"It does not matter if they are plastic or wood, if the planchette spells the word 'Zeus' it is a demon trying to come through and you should not even say the name, never mind continuing to communicate with it...

Funny this just popped up again. A couple of nights ago my 3 (almost 4) year old daughter wakes up in the middle of the night and calls out. Not that unusual, Mummy goes to settle her down again and I'm drowsily listening on the monitor.

When Mummy gets in there my daughter is pretty wide awake and asks, "Mummy, Why was my light flashing on and off?"

Mummy says "The little red light? That's just the smoke alarm my lovely, it is very bright though isn't it".

Daughter "No Mummy, not the smoke alarm. My big light, with the doggy shade on."

Mummy "ok........ Well back to sleep then.."

A couple of minutes later.

Daughter "Mummy, who's on the landing?"

Mummy "Nobody lovely, everyone is in bed sleeping".

Daughter "But I just saw them looking from behind the door, it was white and poked its head round twice"

Mummy "ok.........."

Daughter "Can I come and get in with you and Daddy"

Mummy "Yes, yes you can, lets go!".

I think it's pretty funny and can think of a hundred plausible explanations but my Mrs is convinced the house is haunted now.

However there was a slightly stranger incident that happened not long after we moved in. Middle of the night my Mrs wakes me up quite shaken up with part of her face covered in blood. At the time our daughter was sleeping in our room so we step into the hallway and I clean her up and check her over. Despite looking VERY carefully and checking over her head, in her hair, ears, mouth, hands and arms I can't see so much as a scratch on her.

There was no blood in or around her nose, mouth or ears so it wasn't coming from there. It was just a big patch on the side of her face. Checking her pillow there was a LARGE patch of wet blood on it, like the size of the palm of my hand and still soaking wet after I had spent about 20 minutes checking my Mrs over. It definitely seems like the blood came from the pillow and my Mrs just laid on it. I checked in the pillow and even checked the ceilings and walls in case there was some kind of odd leak but didn't find anything.

It could be possible that maybe she had a small spot in her hair that she had scratched and made bleed that I just missed. For the amount of blood that was there though I would have expected to see some sign of a wound.

Not exactly a ghost story but..

Every time I drive to my sister's I listen to the radio and usually flick between Radio 4 and Classic FM (as I do all the time)

Every single time I hear a Chopin piano piece - which our mother played

Yesterday I went to see my sister, and was just laughing to myself about this - just coincidence I thought

Then I flicked over to ClassicFM and guess what was the next piece of music played?

I listen to ClassicFM all the time and rarely hear anything my mum played - but on the way to see my sister - always

I wonder if it is mum telling her girls that she is still around

Link: Mum home alone sends selfie before spotting two figures in reflection of sunglasses [The Mirror]

Sunglasses Selfie 1.jpg

A woman who sent a selfie to her boyfriend says she later spotted two figures in the reflection of her sunglasses which "scared the s*** out of me".

After buying a new pair of shades online, she decided she needed a second opinion before committing to keeping them and sent a picture to her boyfriend.

But she says while she was waiting for a reply, she reviewed the pictures to see how the glasses looked and noticed "something in the reflection that didn't belong there".

The mum-of-three explained that none of her children - aged two, 14 and 18 - were at home that day and she was in the house all alone.

Providing context to the photo, she wrote: "I'm standing in my kitchen, facing the dining room. Directly through the doorway is my black dining room table and 4 chairs. That's what you should be seeing in the reflection on my glasses. Buuuut that’s not what I see.

"I see 2 figures, a young boy standing on the left and a taller (kind of unsettling) figure on the right, side by side.

"Now I should mention that I believe in and am totally open to spirits/ghosts/entities and all that goes along with them.

Sunglasses Selfie 2.jpg

"I've been told by more than one spiritual/psychic medium that I have a young boy spirit attached to me and that there is also a dark energy attached to me as well.

"Anyway, I'm not sure if that’s what’s being reflected in the glasses but seeing whatever it is as clearly as I do, sure scared the s*** out of me."

It was posted in reply to a question on Quora asking: "What's the scariest thing you've found in a photo after taking it?"

Link: Haunted house [Wikipedia]

...Carbon monoxide theory

Many haunted houses have been investigated and found to contain high levels of carbon monoxide or other poisons, which can cause hallucinations. The carbon monoxide theory explains why haunted houses are mostly older houses, which are more likely to contain aging and defective appliances, and why more hauntings are reported in the colder months. Carbon monoxide poisoning explains many of the occurrences in haunted houses, such as feelings of being watched, hearing footsteps or voices, seeing "ghosts", headaches, dizziness, and sudden death or illness of people or pets, and also strange behavior in pets such as excessive barking or meowing. The carbon monoxide theory also explains why some ghosts don't show up on photographs or videos (photographs that do show "ghosts" are usually caused by dust, insects, fingers or camera strap in front of the lens, and multiple exposures)....

Does carbon monoxide move stuff ? I'm impressed by this channel as I can't think of any reason why this would be faked and she sounds genuinely terrified
