Photocopiers Direct

My school uses a networked Konica photocopier for all of our printing and copying. We are looking at options to get a new machine, as the current one is starting to fail, and have come across a company called Photocopiers Direct (also known as free photocopiers for schools) who are offering what looks like a good deal. They don't charge a rental fee, but charge slightly more per copy which works our around £150 per quarter cheaper for us on our last quarter's figures compared to leasing direct from Konica. We have checked the small print and it all looks OK.

 

I just wondered if anyone has had any experience of this company?

I'd have a look at the CCS Framework. Just ensure Xerox stick to the framework.

My 2p = an old saying: If it seems to good to be true it probably is.

 

Photocopying companies are notorious for ripping off schools, particularly small schools that may not have onsite IT staff to advise.

 

Be very careful if you buy off a company that is not using one of the government frameworks as it will be on you if you get stuck in a terrible contract - it's happened to thousands of schools over the last 20 years with both photocopiers and phone systems.

Just never buy a copier that isn't on an approved framework agreement, however good the deal looks!

Watch out for things like

-charging 2x a4 clicks for a3 printing/copying

-also charging for scanning

-minimum monthly copy requirements

-charging a network connection fee per device or charging a network fee if decide isn’t connected to the network
