Afternoon EduGeekers, just looking for some advise. We are looking at upgrading / replacing our backup software as we have recently moved over to server 2012r2, which our current backup software (Symantec Backup Exec 2012) does not officially support. However, after getting some quotes in, upgrading to Backup Exec 2014 with necessary licensing (something which our previous network manager was not on top of) looks to be quite pricey!

I was wondering what software others are using and whether you are happy with it? Backup Exec works perfectly fine and i get on with it no problem, but the new price may make our business managers head spin. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I spoke to sales at Veeam last night and it sounds like exactly what we're looking for. Currently installing the Backup Essentials free trial to give it a test, but unless there is some unforeseen compatibility issue out of the blue, i think we'll go for it!

Used CA Arcserve for 13 years over several versions to backup to tapes.

Just use the basic backup and restore features for day to day file backs etc.

Exchange and virtual servers I use the built in Windows Server Backup.
