  1. I have seen this problem here too. Very occasionally, but it does happen enough to be a pain. My solution was to give staff a shortcut to the PaperCut client in the start menu. They have been told that if they try to print and do not receive the PaperCut popup, they can go to the start menu and run the PaperCut option there to get it running.
  2. PM sent
  3. +1 for Salamander. Automated user creation directly from SIMS is heaven for the summer intake. If you use Office365 its worth having a look at the stuff they are doing with SharePoint automation too. Total no-brainer to renew each year for me!
  4. I deploy a little tool called USBDLM to manage what drive letters are assigned to any connected USB devices, then can control what can run from these drives through GPO using software restriction policy. Not sure if this will accomplish what you need but light be worth a look.
  5. As a school of just under 1000 students, this can sometimes be a normal days printing for us. Its something i bring up to the business manager constantly but it falls on deaf ears as soon as anyone mentions a possible impact to the good ol' teaching and learning. Handy to have this as something to point to for comparison!
  6. We are just getting our signage in order and are looking at Rise Vision. Its free, no limits on clients, web based setup and will run on low spec machines. You will need a Google account to sign up.

  8. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I spoke to sales at Veeam last night and it sounds like exactly what we're looking for. Currently installing the Backup Essentials free trial to give it a test, but unless there is some unforeseen compatibility issue out of the blue, i think we'll go for it!
  9. Thanks for the replies, will check these out!
  10. Afternoon EduGeekers, just looking for some advise. We are looking at upgrading / replacing our backup software as we have recently moved over to server 2012r2, which our current backup software (Symantec Backup Exec 2012) does not officially support. However, after getting some quotes in, upgrading to Backup Exec 2014 with necessary licensing (something which our previous network manager was not on top of) looks to be quite pricey! I was wondering what software others are using and whether you are happy with it? Backup Exec works perfectly fine and i get on with it no problem, but the new price may make our business managers head spin. Any help is greatly appreciated!
  11. I'm also back in, testing with staff users now.
  12. Been with O365 just over 2 years, only ever had very minor problems that effect our tenant. This is the first time we have ever had a loss of service like this.
  13. My session from 07:30 this morning just dropped, cant get back in
  14. Down here too. Cant get login page to load, however outlook desktop app seems to still work.
  15. Hi all I'm a long time lurker of the site which has helped me out a great deal during my time, however i have now moved up in the world and am sitting in the captains chair since our network manager left over the summer. Hopefully i can offer some help for people and maybe learn something new along the way.
