Hi, my problem is fairly simple.... everytime i connect a USB Device to my machine, the computer reboots.

It doesn't matter whether its front or rear USB ports, or what device it is, aside from my mouse, which is fine!

Within a second of inserting either my USB PEN, printer, or other device, the machine reboots.

Can anyone help, or has anyone had the same issue?

Thanks in advance

We had this on one of our machines at uni once, it turned out to be a broken motherboard - as the device was pulling too much power, and the motherboard wasn't reacting properly...

Could be a (badly written) virus, one of the ones that runs via autorun.inf on your USB drive.

I had this on a staff home machine which they brought in. It turned out to be USB ports that would let you put the USB device in the wrong way round. Every time you did, the PC would shut down or reset.

The PC is now lying dead on my desk, having been replaced - mobo is very faulty and it wasn't economical to repair it.
