There have been rumours circulating...

I feel sorry for Capaldi. He got his dream job, but was scuppered by poor scripts and strange decisions from the creative team.

As for the list, have Paddy Power been on the Poitín? There are some people there who must have much more lucrative things going on than Doctor Who, and others who would be difficult to explain in terms of continuity.

I like the idea of Richard Ayoade or Robert Carlyle (though the latter may be too similar to Capaldi and will probably be getting as much for Once Upon A Time as he would for Who) and Izzard or Purefoy might be interesting. Ones that fall into the "please no!" category would be: Russel Tovey, Alan Carr, Brucie and I would probably skip a regeneration if it was either of the 2 Katies, Walliams or Corden.

Yeah, I know the Doctor is a bit eccentric, though having Walliams be the next Doctor... that's like entering a whole new dimension, lol.

I do hope Capaldi stays on for a while.

Agreed, Capaldi is my favourite of NuWho, last season he was amazing! Hopefully he might do one series with the new writer atleast? Depends if the writer wants his own choice of Doctor

Anyone not in the list above who you think should be in the running?

eg: Hugh Laurie?

Hugh Laurie would be cool!

So would David Tennant and Tom Baker. ;)

Better that person that Corden! (Though I think they'd bring too much slapstick to the role). Interesting how some names have dropped out of the odds and others have climbed in. Still think there are some ridiculous ones on there (in terms of their likelihood of taking the role): just because his wife had a role in an episode, I can't see Damien Lewis going for it (though he did take a part in "Bill", so I guess it's not impossible). I was always under the impression that Ben Whishaw sees himself as an ACTor, and would consider Doctor Who beneath him.

Did I read correctly that the only "Who" this year is the Xmas special?

Had to Google her as I don't watch Eastenders. Looks scarily like a young Meera Syal in some of her picks, but totally different in others. I'd like two (preferably not necessarily romantically linked) companions, or maybe just a male or alien one. The one attractive female companion is getting a bit stale.

:( to the lack of Who in 2016.
