DalekSec Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Andrew Scott would be a great choice I think, Bruce Forsyth, not so much
LeMarchand Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 There have been rumours circulating... I feel sorry for Capaldi. He got his dream job, but was scuppered by poor scripts and strange decisions from the creative team. As for the list, have Paddy Power been on the Poitín? There are some people there who must have much more lucrative things going on than Doctor Who, and others who would be difficult to explain in terms of continuity. I like the idea of Richard Ayoade or Robert Carlyle (though the latter may be too similar to Capaldi and will probably be getting as much for Once Upon A Time as he would for Who) and Izzard or Purefoy might be interesting. Ones that fall into the "please no!" category would be: Russel Tovey, Alan Carr, Brucie and I would probably skip a regeneration if it was either of the 2 Katies, Walliams or Corden. 1

Yeah, I know the Doctor is a bit eccentric, though having Walliams be the next Doctor... that's like entering a whole new dimension, lol. I do hope Capaldi stays on for a while. Depends if the writer wants his own choice of Doctor 1
6Foot2 Posted February 16, 2016 Author Posted February 16, 2016 Anyone not in the list above who you think should be in the running? eg: Hugh Laurie? 1
DalekSec Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Anyone not in the list above who you think should be in the running? eg: Hugh Laurie? Me! I would be a great doctor! 2
DJ-1701 Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Anyone not in the list above who you think should be in the running? eg: Hugh Laurie? Hugh Laurie would be cool! So would David Tennant and Tom Baker.
6Foot2 Posted February 16, 2016 Author Posted February 16, 2016 (edited) Me! I would be a great doctor! The Doctor would make a good Dalek. A Dalek for The Doctor? Not so sure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvxUiPMfuyU Edited February 16, 2016 by 6Foot2 Add another video. 2
rickjames Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Does this mean Capaldi can go back to doing The Thick of It? Brilliant. 1

LeMarchand Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Link: Who will be the next Doctor Who? We think we know who it'll be... | Leicester Mercury Better that person that Corden! (Though I think they'd bring too much slapstick to the role). Interesting how some names have dropped out of the odds and others have climbed in. Still think there are some ridiculous ones on there (in terms of their likelihood of taking the role): just because his wife had a role in an episode, I can't see Damien Lewis going for it (though he did take a part in "Bill", so I guess it's not impossible). I was always under the impression that Ben Whishaw sees himself as an ACTor, and would consider Doctor Who beneath him. Did I read correctly that the only "Who" this year is the Xmas special?
6Foot2 Posted March 3, 2016 Author Posted March 3, 2016 ...Did I read correctly that the only "Who" this year is the Xmas special? Link: Doctor Who: former EastEnders actress Rakhee Thakrar is being considered for the part of Peter Capaldi's companion ...As for the future of Doctor Who, RadioTimes.com revealed last month that Steven Moffat will be overseeing at least 12 new episodes for series ten in spring 2017 and a Christmas special which will air this year...
LeMarchand Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Link: Doctor Who: former EastEnders actress Rakhee Thakrar is being considered for the part of Peter Capaldi's companion Had to Google her as I don't watch Eastenders. Looks scarily like a young Meera Syal in some of her picks, but totally different in others. I'd like two (preferably not necessarily romantically linked) companions, or maybe just a male or alien one. The one attractive female companion is getting a bit stale. to the lack of Who in 2016.

LeMarchand Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 I think it's good that he's been asked to stay, and I hope he gives Chibnall at least one season.
